As many of you know, I founded Ave Maria Homeschool Academy. We focus on serving neurodiverse students, medically fragile students, and those who have special needs. Here's a project we started that is close to my heart. It will be ongoing for us since the need is great for children in hospitals and shelters. Please consider adding these children in your prayers and partnering with us...
Ave Maria Homeschool invites our community to partner with us in spreading hope and creativity to children in need. Through your generous donations, our students will create handmade craft kits that will be donated to local children staying in hospitals or shelters—bringing moments of joy, comfort, and encouragement during difficult times. A tax-deductible donation of just $5 can provide one complete craft kit for a child, helping cover the cost of supplies and materials. Every contribution, big or small, allows our students to serve others with compassion and purpose, turning simple crafts into meaningful gifts that remind children they are cared for and not forgotten.

Hello lovely families,
I've missed you all. There's so much I want to share with all of you on the many changes with Ave Maria, but I'll make it as concise as possible :-) After much prayer and discernment with my husband, here's the gist of it...
Thankfully, St. John Henry Newman Academy is serving the Catholic homeschooling community by offering academic classes and onsite therapy services to children who are neurotypical and with special needs. Please pray for their success and spread the word! As we worked together after the closing of Atonement Academy, Ave Maria BoD decided to migrate some of our tutors to help them with staffing. They also hired former Atonement Academy teachers to boost their success. SJHN Academy is such a blessing to the Catholic homeschool community!
Ave Maria continues its mission to serve both typical and neurodiverse students in San Antonio. We are piloting a program that leans towards STEM and the Arts. I personally developed and will be teaching the 3 different classes. Yes, I have gifts the Lord is asking me to share now.

Thank you my Lord for giving me one more year of life. One more year to raise my children. One more year to make a difference in this world. My dear friends, I am grateful for all the birthday wishes on my timeline, DMs, text messages, and phone calls.
This year, I did something special for myself. I picked out the cutest cake design! It is a birthday cake I would have wanted as a 9 year-old when I was into rainbows and unicorns. My childhood was rough and something like this would have made my birthday so special. Just because I'm 50 now doesn't mean I can't try to make my inner child happy.
I'll give an update on my cancer journey in a minute but first I want to share something I discovered recently. I decided to get myself evaluated and found I have a neurodiversity - ADHD. I was taken aback by this. However, learning about this diagnosis has explained a whole lot. It's given me an awareness to better help myself. Later, I will share about additional diagnoses I received. I find it providential that I received this diagnosis after having founded a nonprofit that serves neurodiverse children! More on that later.
Regarding my cancer journey... Praise God, I am still in remission. However, a "growth" was found and my oncologist will be sending me to get a PET scan to confirm if the cancer has returned. My latest blood biopsy is still negative which is a good sign.
I'm trying my best not to freak out but, of course, as a member of the human race, it makes me nervous. I'm 50 years old today and my children are ages 14-4. Please pray for my healing.
Many have asked what I've been doing lately. Few people know my husband and I started a nonprofit shortly after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year, while undergoing chemo. It was an act of faith. My Lord asked me to trust Him and I said "yes." This work was inspired by my love for my children and my love for ALL children.
Please open your heart to pray for Ave Maria Homeschool Academy, the nonprofit homeschool hybrid academy we founded last year. We have many initiatives we're trying to get funded since we are experiencing amazing growth as we work to fill a need in the community. Also, please consider making a small contribution of $10-$25/month or one-time. Every dollar goes to serve our students. Neither Peter, my husband, nor I take a paycheck from this. We donate our time and talent 100% (and as much of our own personal $$ as possible).
It is a 501(c)(3) that serves nearly 100 children with a high percentage (around 40% and climbing) of neurodiverse students. We are the only one of its kind in our area. https://avemariahomeschool.org
Please consider helping a child with special needs and make a small tax-deductible donation at this link. https://givebutter.com/AveMaria
Sending love and prayers to all my lovely friends.

Hello!
Ave Maria Homeschool will hold MEET-THE-TEACHER DAY this Friday, Aug 9th from 12pm-2pm at St. Anthony Mary Claret Hubertus Hall, 6150 Roft Rd., San Antonio, TX 78253.
What's new this year!
Classes are now scheduled yearly to teach curriculum over 32 weeks/year. Most academic classes are held 2X per week, up to 4 times per week.

We hired 2 special education teachers to serve our neurodiverse community, offering Catholic education to whole families.

We hired Mrs. Rita Salazar as our Faith Formation Director to ensure students, teachers, and parents receive Catholic spiritual enrichment through retreats, adoration, talks, and prayer built into every class.
