Can’t wait to dive into this today! I am drawn to this part of the subtitle”…Lessons of… The Wisdom of the Human Spirit”.

I believe in the human spirit and our ability to come together. We are more alike than we are different. Leadership is acknowledging differences and finding ways to move forward.

// The High Price of Harsh Words //

Self-criticism can be a hidden drain on our success and well-being. It can lead to missed opportunities, decreased creativity, and hinder our ability to learn and grow.

Imagine struggling with a project.Instead of the inner critic saying “This is a disaster, you’re never going to get it right,” reframe it to “This is challenging, but I have the skills and experience to tackle it. There will be bumps along the way, but I’m prepared to learn from them.”

If this is an area of struggle in your life, you aren’t alone, let’s connect! - KM 🧡

This is a favorite quote of mine, and an empowering truth. Lately, I’m hearing from many people who are feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. 🫠👇

🥱 They’re exhausted by the demands of being available for 10+ hours a day, attending work events, and constantly responding to calls, texts, and emails. It’s not just women who are frustrated by long workdays, short evenings at home, and a lack of quality time with loved ones. Men are also beginning to voice their concerns, expressing a desire to attend their kids’ sports games and music recitals, and see family members more often.

🆗 We can all agree that everyone needs more time for rest and enjoyment. It’s time to prioritize and make space for what truly matters in our lives. I’m not talking about a massage, vacation, or bubble bath here, and please don’t mention the term work-life balance!

❓Whether it’s due to guilt, obligation, or duty, the life you’re living is a choice. And you can change your mind at any time.

💭 As Brené Brown wisely said, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”

🧠😔 Shame and guilt are often used interchangeably, but they are distinct emotions with different effects on our behavior and mental health.

As an Executive Coach and Dare to Lead™️ facilitator, I talk about shame and guilt with my clients often. The ™️ program is based on the professional research of Dr. Brené Brown who has extensively studied shame and guilt and their impact on human behavior.

𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 👇

👉 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙚 is an intensely painful emotion that arises from a deep sense of unworthiness or failure. It is often accompanied by feelings of humiliation, worthlessness, and self-loathing. Shame is a self-conscious emotion, meaning that it is focused on the self and how we perceive ourselves in relation to others. Shame can be triggered by a wide range of experiences, such as social rejection, criticism, or the perception of falling short of social norms.

👉 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 , on the other hand, is a moral emotion that arises when we believe we have done something wrong or violated a moral standard. Guilt is an other-focused emotion, meaning that it is focused on how our actions affect others. Guilt can be a positive emotion if it motivates us to make amends and repair our relationships with others. However, excessive or chronic guilt can lead to negative outcomes such as anxiety, depression, and self-blame.
