Working on this latest batch of bags (coming soon to Guadalupe Trading Co. ) , I saw the perfect opportunity to share a little and education. Hand skiving is important when working with thicker leathers and layers that overlap for a few reasons.
๐ Your future self will thank you when running those areas through your sewing machine later.
๐ The junctions look cleaner on the finished item.
๐ If you're flipping it right side out after stitching, it will make it a little easier.
It is scary because at any second, no matter your practice or skill level, you can gouge out the leather and ruin the whole thing ๐ฌ. In my humble experience. But the details matter!
