Back-to-school just got tastier! Constantino’s Back-to-School Buffet has been extended through August 22. Enjoy pizza, wings, salad, and a drink for only $12.99, August 17–22 from 11 AM–2 PM at 7300 S. Loop 1604 W., Somerset, TX 78069. Bring the family and come hungry!

Support the Southwest High School Band Boosters at Peter Piper Pizza on Monday, August 31, from 11 AM - 9 PM! Mention the fundraiser at the register and 15% of your purchase will be donated back to the band. Check the flyer for more details and come out to enjoy some pizza while supporting our students!

Support the Southwest High School Band at P. Terry’s on Monday, September 14, from 4 - 10 PM for a Spirit Night Fundraiser! 15% of your purchase will be donated back to the SWHS Band. Be sure to show the flyer or mention the fundraiser before payment. Check the flyer for event details and come out to support our band!

Mark your calendars! Southwest ISD is proud to host the 2026 Annual Marching Classic on Saturday, September 26, at Southwest Legacy High School. Join us for a day of outstanding performances, spirited competition, and musical excellence as marching bands from across Texas take the field. We invite schools from San Antonio and beyond to showcase their talent and be part of this exciting annual tradition. Registration is now open. Help protect your student throughout the school year. Southwest ISD families have the option to enroll in Voluntary Student Accident Insurance, which can help cover eligible medical expenses resulting from accidental injuries at school or during school-related activities. Enrollment is optional and available directly through the insurance provider. Families may complete enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year online or visit their home campus or campus of interest for in-person assistance. To help ensure students are ready for the first day of school, campuses will offer Express Registration on August 4 and 5 for any last-minute enrollments. Please note that all campuses will be closed on August 19. For more information, visit www.swisd.net/registration. Back-to-School Immunization Opportunities are being made available in the district and throughout the San Antonio community to offer free or low-cost vaccines to SWISD students.

A special surprise for a special group of educators!

The Juan and Mary Alvarado Education Foundation welcomed teachers at the brand-new Juan Alvarado Elementary with a surprise luncheon as they prepare to make history together.

With classrooms coming to life and teachers getting ready to welcome their very first students, the luncheon was a chance to celebrate the people who will help build the culture, traditions, and memories of Southwest ISD’s newest campus. Past district leaders and former superintendents also joined the celebration, helping mark this exciting new chapter in SWISD history.

On August 24, Juan Alvarado Elementary will officially open its doors to students for the first time—and these educators will be there to welcome them.

Thank you to the Juan and Mary Alvarado Education Foundation for making this exciting new beginning even more special!

Southwest High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will be hosting an introductory "Fish Camp" for students who have selected or are interested in learning more about NJROTC. The camp will run from 9AM-2PM August 10-12 (Mon-Wed) at the NJROTC classroom, which can be accessed through the first set of double doors in the SWHS Student Parking Lot. Attendance is highly encouraged, but is optional, and students do not need all days. Lunch and drinks will be provided.
