🌿 I’m honored to share that I was recently interviewed by The Dallas Morning News for the article, “The Business of Dying: Inside North Texas’ Growing Death Doula Movement.”

It was truly a pleasure to be interviewed alongside other dedicated End-of-Life Doulas, including one of our own IDLM instructors serving the Dallas area. I am grateful that we had the opportunity to share our different experiences, perspectives, and passion for this meaningful work.

For many years, I have dedicated my life to supporting individuals and families through the end-of-life journey and educating others who feel called to do this sacred work.

Seeing the End-of-Life Doula movement receive this recognition is incredibly meaningful. This work is about much more than death—it is about ensuring that people feel seen, heard, supported, and treated with dignity during one of life’s most vulnerable transitions.

I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the growing community of doulas who are helping change the way we approach death, dying, and end-of-life care.

🌿 The Reality of Death Doula Work 🌿

People often see the peaceful moments—the gentle hand-holding, the quiet conversations, and the sacred goodbyes.

What they don't always see is everything that happens behind the scenes.
Being a Death Doula isn't simply sitting at the bedside. It's walking into homes where families are overwhelmed. It's helping people navigate fear, uncertainty, and grief. It's advocating for a patient's wishes, educating loved ones, coordinating with care teams, and remaining calm when emotions run high.

Some days you'll witness incredible peace.
Some days you'll witness profound heartbreak.
Many days, you'll experience both.

This work asks for more than compassion. It asks for emotional resilience, strong boundaries, ongoing education, humility, and the willingness to be fully present when someone needs you most.
