I remember Gifted and Talented Classes. They allowed me to study advanced subjects but never really allowed me to use my nonacademic gifts and talents.

I wanted to dance, draw, write, sing, make paper dolls for the stories that moved me like P**i Longstocking, Little House in the Big Woods, Martian Chronicles.

As I homeschool/unschool my son, I realize how easy it is rely on worksheets and textbooks when I get busy or overwhelmed with work. It makes learning very dry and unappealing for both of us.

But man, on those days when we can do some version of synthesized education, we are both excited and on fire for what we are both learning.

I think we can do this at any age and in so many ways. It is never too late.
