A huge shoutout to our Creative Productions: Sports Media and Marketing students for creating an outstanding video highlighting our Sports Medicine and Rehabilitative Therapy Program!

This is a prime example of the collaborative approach we value so much at the STEAM Academy—students in one program using their talents and skills to help showcase the work of another. Opportunities like this not only strengthen our programs, but also give students authentic, real-world experiences through teamwork and creativity.

Great job to all of the students involved! We are proud of the incredible work happening across our STEAM Academy programs every day.

What an incredible week for our STEAM Academy students at the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania State Competition in Hershey!

Our students had the opportunity to compete against Career and Technical Education students from across Pennsylvania, and it was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, growth, and pride. We are so proud of the way our students represented the STEAM Academy with professionalism, skill, and determination.

We are especially thrilled to announce that we had not one, but TWO State Champions:

We are excited to share that the STEAM Academy has been awarded an NCCER Grant to support the continued growth of our Electrical Occupations/Powerline Program!

This incredible grant included a Core Toolbox valued at $7,350, and our students were thrilled to help unbox this amazing resource that will directly support hands-on learning and skill development in the lab.

A huge thank you to NCCER for investing in the future of career and technical education, to our school sponsor Carhartt for their continued support of our students, and to our registered apprenticeship sponsor, ABC of Western PA, for recommending our program for this opportunity.

Partnerships like these make a real difference for our students by helping provide industry-relevant tools, equipment, and experiences that prepare them for success in high-demand careers. Our ESports and Cybersecurity students leveled up their learning at Dave & Buster’s Play Academy today by turning gameplay into a real-world engineering and strategy challenge.

Before jumping into the arcade, students studied game mechanics and practiced their strategies using a practice model to predict outcomes. They then tested those strategies on the real games, analyzed the results, and made improvements — comparing how their model performed versus the real environment.

It was hands-on problem solving in action — combining critical thinking, data analysis, and strategic planning in a fun, high-energy setting.

This is why we created the Rising Educators program: to give students meaningful, hands-on classroom experience before they even graduate high school. Michael is doing outstanding work, and we are grateful to Blairsville Elementary for mentoring our future educators. The pipeline is real at River Valley. 💙🖤

🎥🏀 Creative Productions students visited Robert Morris University today to go behind the scenes of a Division I basketball broadcast and see firsthand how a live game makes it to ESPN+.

Students participated in a real production meeting, learned the workflow of live sports broadcasting, operated professional equipment, and even served as Time Out Coordinator for local and national commercial breaks.

A huge thank you to RMU for hosting our students and giving them such an incredible look at the industry! 👍🏻

The regularly scheduled meeting of the River Valley School District Board of School Directors on January 27, 2026, will be conducted remotely due to inclement weather.
