Last week, the River Valley STEAM Academy welcomed students entering grades 7–9 for our Summer Camps in Welding Technology and Sports Medicine & Rehabilitative Therapy!

Throughout the camps, students participated in live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and interactive workshops designed to give them a firsthand look at what it is like to be enrolled in these STEAM Academy programs. It was exciting to see their curiosity, confidence, and enthusiasm grow as they explored new skills and potential career pathways.

A huge thank you to Kiewit Corporation for its generous sponsorship. Their support made these camps possible and provided students with an unforgettable opportunity to learn, create, and experience career and technical education in action.

We are grateful to our instructors, staff, and everyone who helped make the week such a success! :)

Congratulations to the River Valley STEAM Academy Cybersecurity Team for earning 1st Place Overall at the U.S. Air Force Association CyberCamp held at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg! 🏆

During the week-long camp, students participated in immersive, hands-on cybersecurity training where they learned how to identify system vulnerabilities, secure Windows and Linux operating systems, defend computer networks, and work as a team to solve real-world cybersecurity challenges.

Competing against teams from both Pitt Greensburg and Pitt Oakland, the winning team demonstrated outstanding technical skills, teamwork, and determination to bring home the championship.

Congratulations to our champions:
Chloe Dennison, Mark Hill, Joseph Kukosky, and Timothy Kukosky. 🥇

This was the first year the camp was hosted at Pitt Greensburg, making this outstanding opportunity more accessible to students throughout our region.

A special thank you to the EQT Foundation and Pitt Cyber for sponsoring the camp and making this experience possible. We also recognize our instructors and mentors:
Melissa Milanak, former River Valley STEAM Academy Cybersecurity instructor, Lori Baker, River Valley School District Guidance Counselor, and Michael Pry, Director of the Cybersecurity Program at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
