BAPA’s primary purpose is to provide networking opportunities for fellow Bosnian-Americans and foster continued professional growth in our community. We are planning to accomplish these goals through community outreach, mentoring programs, and a scholarship fund, while strengthening connections to our homeland. VISION

🇧🇦 2026 BAPA STUDENT PRESENTATIONS: LAYLA HURLEY

Layla Hurley will be presenting her research on the growing disparity between women’s educational attainment and leadership representation in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Her project explores the social, structural, and cultural barriers that continue beyond the classroom and asks why highly educated women remain underrepresented in leadership positions and what can be done to close that gap.

We’re excited to highlight Farah Sertović, one of this year’s student presenters! 🇧🇦

Her presentation explores sevdalinka as a living form of cultural memory for Bosnians in Bosnia and across the diaspora. Through historical research, community perspectives, and STRIGOL as a case study, Farah examines how traditional lyrics, modern musical interpretations, and digital media can help preserve sevdah and connect it with younger generations.

We’re excited to introduce Zana Jasarević, one of the incredible panelists joining us at the 2026 BAPA Annual Forum in Atlanta! 🇧🇦💙💛

Zana is an Expert Technical Program Manager at Microsoft, where she leads strategic cybersecurity, vulnerability management, and enterprise risk initiatives across XBOX. With a background spanning technology, cybersecurity, leadership, and mentorship, she brings a unique perspective and wealth of experience to the conversation.

As a proud Bosnian-American and passionate advocate for empowering future leaders in STEM, we’re excited to have Zana share her journey, insights, and expertise with our BAPA community.
