John Bell ’76 is taking his final bow at Tampa Theatre. 🎭

Tampa Theatre President & CEO John Bell has announced his retirement, marking the end of an extraordinary 40-year tenure at one of the nation’s most celebrated historic movie palaces.

When Bell arrived in 1985, the Theatre had been saved from demolition just nine years prior and was showing mostly classic films under the Hillsborough County Arts Council. He expanded programming to include first-run independent films, launched the beloved Summer Classics movie series, and transformed the landmark into one of the region’s most intimate live concert venues.

In 2010, Bell led Tampa Theatre through another evolution by helping it become a nonprofit organization, strengthening fundraising efforts and securing the Theatre’s future for generations to come.

Congratulations to John on an incredible career and lasting legacy!
