Maryland Summer Centre for the Arts

Greetings.

It is with great disappointment that I share unfortunate news: The Maryland Summer Center for the Arts (MSCA) will NOT convene this summer 2015.

As many of you know, funding has been a challenge since the economic downturn in 2008. In the absence of state support, we have made every effort to secure the resources needed to offer talented students meaningful arts experiences in a nurturing environment. With generous support from Salisbury University, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Maryland State Department of Education, MSCA has continued to grow. Unfortunately, this season we were unable to secure the fiscal resources needed to offer the kind of programming you’ve come to expect.

We thank all of you, old friends and new, for your kind support and interest—we will miss seeing you this summer. We will use this year to reevaluate our efforts and to develop strategies to create a more sustainable future. For 50 years MSCA has served artistically gifted students across Maryland. We hope to continue that legacy in 2016.
