As the final bell rings on another school year, today is truly a bittersweet moment at SEMS. We celebrated our incredible 8th graders during their promotion ceremony as they prepare to begin a brand-new chapter in high school. Our students come together from many different areas across the county, and now they will continue their journeys at different high schools, carrying with them the friendships, memories, and lessons they made here as Patriots. We are so proud of each and every one of them and cannot wait to see all they accomplish in the years ahead.

Today’s goodbye was extra special as our staff lined the buses, waving goodbye and sending our students off with smiles, cheers, and well wishes for the summer. Our sidewalks were also filled with colorful chalk messages written by staff and students to encourage our students, celebrate our graduates, and wish everyone a safe and happy summer break.

To our returning students, we already look forward to welcoming you back in the fall and seeing how much you grow over the summer. And to our rising 6th graders (if you’re visiting our page) — we cannot wait to meet you and welcome you as the newest future Patriots!

To our 8th graders, remember that SEMS will always be home. We hope that in a few years, when you’re driving, you’ll come back and visit us because once a Patriot, always a Patriot! 🤍💛💙

As we head into summer, we encourage all students, staff, and families to continue living out our SEMS motto: Take care of ourselves, each other, and this place. No matter where summer takes you, continue showing kindness, responsibility, and Patriot pride everywhere you go.

Our gym was full of energy as students came together for games, performances, and plenty of school spirit! 🏫🎶 Spring sports athletes were recognized, the band brought the hype, and each grade showed up in style—8th grade rocked the beach theme 🏖️, 7th grade showed their pride in red, white, and blue ❤️🤍💙, and 6th grade brought the island vibes 🌺.
Shoutout to our 8th graders for taking home the spirit stick for best dressed AND most participation! 🏆

A huge thank you to our PTA Boosters for organizing “Pie a Staff”—it got messy, but it was all for a great cause and full of laughs! 🥧😂

We had fun, we laughed, and we connected as a school community—just the boost we needed before getting focused for EOGs starting Thursday. Let’s finish strong! Make sure students are well-rested, studying, and ready to ace those tests! 💪📚✨ Here’s to giving it our best and making Southeast proud—once a Patriot, always a Patriot! ❤️💙

Our future Patriots got a warm welcome yesterday, our rising 6th graders got an exciting preview of middle school life! ✨

Students toured the building, met some of our amazing teachers, and broke the ice with fun games that had everyone smiling and connecting. To top it off, our talented band and chorus gave special performances that showcased the incredible opportunities awaiting them.

We also thank our incredible 8th grade helpers who made the day extra special by guiding and assisting throughout the visit.

Proud moment for our 6th Grade Band at the Carowinds Festival of Music!

Not only were these students the best behaved group at the event, but they delivered their strongest performance of the year so far. Their hard work truly showed on stage!

The 6th Grade Band earned an EXCELLENT overall rating—two judges awarded “Excellent,” and one judge awarded a SUPERIOR!

We are incredibly proud of their growth, dedication, and teamwork. What an amazing achievement for their very first adjudicated performance! 🎶👏
