Job description
The Park Academy is a small private practice seeking to add additional therapists to the practice. We specialize in working with students who have dyslexia. While we have established curriculum, it is used as a foundation with which to build a comprehensive, student-centered program.
This position is ideal for the professional who wants to positively impact the lives of students with disabilities and work toward building their own client base. It is easy to begin by adding a few afterschool hours while you maintain your full-time job. Initially, the hours available may not be enough to provide a full-time income.
Reading Specialists are professionals with advanced preparation and experience in reading who have responsibility for the literacy performance of readers in general and struggling readers in particular. This includes early childhood, elementary, middle, secondary, and adult learners. All reading specialists are required to be familiar with the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading.
• The Reading Specialist supports, supplements, and extends classroom teaching based on the current level of performance for each student.
• The Reading Specialist is responsible for informal assessments that are vital for developing, implement and evaluating the specific needs of individual students.
• The Reading Specialist provides leadership as a resource to other educators, parents and the community.
Applicants must be willing to work 6-10 a week during the afterschool hours.
Therapist who meet the highest standards will have students referred to them for intervention through the use of our referral program. Other applicants will be able to build on their excellent qualifications and the established reputation of The Park Academy in order to build their client base.
All sub therapists will be responsible to The Park Academy as they work with their students. Educators will be required maintain their own schedule, keep parents updated regarding the progress of their child and maintain regular communication with The Park Academy regarding any conflicts or issues that arise between the educator, parents and or students.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
