Thirty years is an incredible legacy.

Over the past three decades, Sandy Jordan has done far more than teach and care for children - she has helped shape Salisbury Academy into the school we are today. Through her dedication, warmth, and unwavering commitment to students, Sandy laid important foundations, touched the lives of hundreds of children and families, and helped cultivate the culture of learning, community, and care that defines SA.

As Sandy transitions to retirement, we thank her with full hearts for her years of service and the countless ways she has enriched Salisbury Academy. Thank you as well to everyone who joined us last week to celebrate her remarkable career.

Sandy shared this note with our community:

"I want to thank everyone for acknowledging my retirement. Every note and kind word is etched on my heart. During my time at SA, I have had the privilege to work with amazing faculty and students. Every day has been filled with fun and joy. As I enter this new phase, I will take so many sweet memories with me."

At last week's Closing Chapel, we were honored to recognize two outstanding members of our Salisbury Academy community.

Congratulations to Volunteer of the Year, Katie Zino, whose faithful service in our library this year has been a tremendous gift to our school. Thank you, Katie, for sharing your time and talents with SA!

We also celebrated Jillian Jarrell, recipient of the peer-selected Middle School Citizenship Award. Jillian beautifully exemplifies the Compassionate Citizen trait of the Jaguar Journey through her kindness, character, and care for others.

This class leaves Salisbury Academy with far more than a transcript. They leave as thoughtful problem-solvers, compassionate community members, confident communicators, and resilient leaders - prepared not only for college and careers, but for meaningful lives of purpose and impact.

Today, we celebrated a remarkable group of Salisbury Academy 8th graders as they marked the completion of their middle school journey. 💙

Through heartfelt reflections shared by teachers, we honored each student’s unique gifts, growth, character, and contributions to our community. One especially meaningful moment came as their 1st grade buddies performed “You Can Fly” - a touching reminder of how much these students have grown and how brightly their futures shine.

We are grateful for the ways this class has led, learned, served, and shaped our school community.

SA's fourth grade wrapped up their study of the Constitution with an unforgettable off-campus adventure to Raleigh! Students toured the Governor’s Mansion, Capitol Building, and Legislative Building while experiencing government in action firsthand. The highlight of the day was watching the House in session and participating in a private interview with Senator Ford. What a meaningful way to bring classroom learning to life in the final days of the school year! 🇺🇸✨

At Senior Celebration Chapel, Salisbury Academy was honored to reveal this year’s yearbook dedication to Middle School Division Director Jessica Goodman - a beloved teacher, leader, mentor, and champion for students. 💙

Known for her love of books, learning, and trivia, Mrs. Goodman brings joy and curiosity into every classroom and conversation. Since joining Salisbury Academy in 2011 and finding her “middle school home” in 2013, she has helped guide students through one of life’s most formative seasons with wisdom, compassion, encouragement, and care.

Her impact reaches far beyond academics. Mrs. Goodman creates a middle school experience where students feel known, supported, challenged, and inspired to grow into their best selves. We are deeply grateful for the beautiful legacy she continues to build within the Salisbury Academy community.

Today, our Upper School students depart for Disney World! They'll spend the week exploring the leadership, innovation, and behind-the-scenes systems that create world-class guest experiences - all while making unforgettable memories together. ✨

Last week, Spanish I students visited Velazquez Produce as part of their study of Spanish foods and healthy living, gaining firsthand insight into a local family-owned business that distributes produce across NC, SC, and VA.
