The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler along a path"

The words of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) remind us to live in this world with humility and purpose, like a traveler who knows this journey is temporary. When I teach the Qur’an, I try to hold onto that mindset—it’s not about recognition, praise, or being seen, but about fulfilling a responsibility entrusted to me for the sake of Allah alone. The beauty of sincere deeds is that they don’t need an audience; in fact, they are often strongest when done quietly, away from attention. If humanity embraced this—doing good behind closed doors whenever possible—we would protect our intentions from pride and keep our actions pure, known fully only to Allah, who sees what is hidden and rewards what is sincere.

📖 The Forgotten Value of Quran Teachers

It’s truly heartbreaking that in our time, people expect Qur’an teachers — those who dedicate their lives to preserving and teaching the very words of Allah — to be paid less, as if their efforts are of lower worth. SubḥānAllāh, this is the Book that brings light to the heart, peace to the soul, and guidance to every aspect of life. Yet the very people who spend their hours teaching tajwīd, recitation, and meaning are undervalued.

We will pay tutors high fees for math, science, or sports lessons, but when it comes to the Qur’an, suddenly the mindset changes: “Shouldn’t it be free?” or “Why is it so expensive?”

This stigma is not only sad, it reflects how far our priorities have shifted.

The Prophet ﷺ said: *“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Bukhari)

If teaching the Qur’an is the best of professions, then why do we treat it as the least deserving?

Honoring Qur’an teachers with fair compensation is not just a matter of money it is a matter of respect, of acknowledging their sacrifice, and of protecting the next generation’s connection to the Book of Allah.

Let’s break this stigma. Supporting Qur’an teachers is supporting the Qur’an itself.
