Oregon Spirit of ’45 Day, the first state in the nation to legislate a permanent DAY in honor of the WWII Generation (2nd Sunday of every August).

Mission
To commemorate an annual day of remembrance and national renewal on the second Sunday of every August to honor the achievements of the men and women of the World War II generation so that their example of courage, shared sacrifice, can-do spirit, unity, civic engagement and service to others will forever inspire future generations. New National Memorial of Military Ascent in Grafton, Illinois, just north of St. Louis, which commemorates the U.S. Army Rangers’ assault on Pointe du Hoc during D-Day. The memorial includes multiple life-size bronze statues of Rangers climbing the cliffs. It was dedicated this weekend in conjunction with the 82nd anniversary of D-Day🇺🇸

February 17, our new and 'sharp' WWII friend from Seattle... Captain Richard Nelms turns 103. Dick completed 30 missions in the B-17 during WWII--one mission taking on 300 bullet holes.

March 19-20, he visit New Orleans' National WWII Museum for the Soaring Valor experience (sponsored by the Gary Sinise Foundation).

On May 16, Armed Forces Day, a visit to the B-17 Alliance at the airport in Salem, OR. This site is one of 2, B-17s renovations in America; the other one is in Mesa, AZ.
