Each year, the Broward Domestic Violence Council invites our community to take time to recognize the people and programs doing meaningful work to support survivors, strengthen systems, and respond with care.
The Broward Domestic Violence Council Impact Awards are a chance to do just that. These awards honor law enforcement professionals, advocates, volunteers, programs, and community leaders who go above and beyond, often without recognition.
Nominations are now open. If you know someone making a difference, we encourage you to submit a nomination and help shine a light on their work.

✨ Last night, the Broward Domestic Violence Council had the honor of celebrating a powerful milestone — 50 years of impact by Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. at the Starfish Gala. 💜
For five decades, WID has been a driving force in ending domestic violence through intervention, advocacy, and education.
We were especially proud to see several of our Council partners recognized for their unwavering commitment to survivors: Broward State Attorney's Office - 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida, Broward County Clerk of Courts, and Broward Sheriff's Office.
Each has played a vital role in supporting survivors and building a coordinated community response to domestic violence.
Here’s to 50 years of lifesaving work — and to the partnerships that make it possible. 💫

💜October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Did you know that as a victim of domestic violence in Florida, you may be entitled to time off from work to attend court, apply for an Injunction for Protection, and seek services? Check out Florida Statute 741.313 - Unlawful action against employees seeking protection.

Please see below regarding an amazing resource for individuals who have been issued a final injunction for protection 💜
You may request Florida’s new Hope Card – free of charge – if you have been issued a final injunction for protection in a case of domestic violence, repeat violence, sexual violence, dating violence, stalking, or exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable adult.
The cards help victims and survivors of violence or abuse to quickly provide details and proof of the protective order to law enforcement or others. The cards mean survivors no longer have to carry as many as 12 pages of paperwork as proof.
To apply in Broward County, visit https://loom.ly/VJwSiHY or the County Courthouse.
We are proud that Broward Assistant State Attorney Stefanie Newman, chief of our Domestic Violence Unit, inspired the creation of Hope Cards in Florida. We are grateful to State Reps. Michael Gottlieb and Traci Koster, and State Senator Lauren Book, who sponsored the legislation.
