Fifteen years. Nearly 500 regattas. Five states. $6.4 million.

New SAISA research articulates the economic impact and activity from college sailing regattas in the SAISA Conference geography. From the fall of 2011 through the spring of 2026, visiting teams spent an estimated $6.4 million in host communities on rooms, meals, and getting around.

- South Carolina — $2.92M from 138 events
- Florida — $2.52M from 207 events
- North Carolina — $668K from 69 events
- Georgia — $194K from 22 events
- Tennessee — $99K from 13 events

This is direct spending only. No economic multiplier is applied, and it leaves out airfare, spectators, host operations and payroll. We kept it conservative on purpose. It’s a number you can defend line by line is worth more than a bigger one you have to keep explaining. The analysis was built from TechScore records covering 21,808 sailor participations, 18,715 of them from visiting teams. Full report and a fact sheet for every host state at the link in bio.

with the conclusion of the 2026 ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship today ⛵

Congratulations to all the SAISA teams that competed and represented the conference on the national stage in St. Petersburg this week. Special shout-out to Jacksonville and Charleston on advancing to finals in both the Open and Women's championship! 👏

A huge thank you and congratulations to the University of South Florida Bulls for hosting two amazing championships. From the volunteers, race officials and USF sailors, you all ran a fantastic championship week.

Can't wait to see everyone back on the water in the fall for even more competition 🌊

Great job to every SAISA team that competed and represented our conference on the national stage. Huge congratulations to Jacksonville University and College of Charleston for advancing to finals 👏
