Apparently “watch this before you open” was not a suggestion. 😂

But here’s why I bought a SunHugg SunHugg in the first place…

Seasonal Affective Disorder is real. So is the biology of winter light.

Light isn’t just something we see. It’s information our bodies use to set circadian rhythms, regulate hormones and neurotransmitters, and support mitochondrial function — all of which influence energy, sleep and mood.

And winter isn’t something we need to fight. It’s a season our biology knows how to respond to.

I’m usually spoiled by Florida winters ☀️, but I’ll be spending December and January at our lake house in Georgia — where sitting outside with skin exposed to midday sun requires a little more…commitment. 🥶

So this winter: morning light, midday light, and when UVB is available, getting some skin in the sun to support vitamin D production.

Hence…my new little winter sun cocoon. 😂

The goal isn’t to pretend it’s summer.

It’s to embrace winter while still giving my biology the light it needs.

Light → mitochondria → energy → mood. ☀️⚡️🧠

And, it is actually pretty easy to re-fold if you watch the instructional video a few times. 🤦‍♀️😂

This summer I added a few quick minutes of movement to my morning routine.

I learned the core practice from Kate Nolte Kate Nolte | Coach & Trainer then added a few of my own moves for lymphatic flow, fascia, and mitochondria.

Stacking quantum health strategies first thing — light, earth, breath, movement — increases stress resilience, supports mitochondrial function and circadian rhythms, and helps stabilize mood for the rest of the day.

Why stack all four?

▪️ Morning natural light exposure creates an anchor and sets up stable mood all day

▪️ Coordinates electrical communication in the body — neurotransmitters and hormones

▪️ More coherence = better health outcomes

▪️ Longevity and vitality, at any age, especially now at 55

▪️ Reduced inflammation and easier weight management

▪️ Energy to live life to the fullest

Barefoot, no sunglasses, outside as early as I can manage it. Small minutes. Big safety signals to the body.

Welcoming the first Certified Anxiety Recovery Coach through the QMHI Courtney Voss Courtney Voss, NTP | Health Strategist | Anxiety Recovery Coach to the show.

She said it out loud - Mindset work is a powerful tool in healing old stories.

You don’t need to be fully healed to help people heal. You just need to be on the journey.

Drop a 🫶 if that hit.

What matters most is presence, not perfection.
Courtney talked about how certification gave her the confidence to trust her work, stop shrinking behind labels, and actually step into the clients she’s meant to help.

That’s the shift.
Not “I’m fixed.”
But “I’m willing, aware, and able to hold space.”

And honestly, that’s what makes a practitioner powerful.

If you’re in your own growth season, this is your reminder:
you can still be of service while you’re evolving.

What are you still learning to trust in yourself?

I went live on Substack with my friend and colleague Nikko Kennedy Nikko Kennedy today and it’s was so much fun to chat about anxiety ~ especially now that I’m on this side of recovery 😄

We talked a lot about motherhood and children experiencing anxiety. I was reminded of all my years as a child & family therapist, researcher and counselor educator. But mostly, I’ve learned how to be helpful to others by the profound experiences of being a mom, having an “anxious disposition” for decades, debilitating anxiety in perimenopause and then discovering my own deep recovery through quantum health strategies.

It’s been a winding path! I created “Mom’s Sanity: Helping Our Anxious Kiddos” mini-course to help other moms understand anxiety as a signal. 30+ years of clinical experience distilled into practical strategies that actual work on a cellular level.

I rely on my faith. It’s honestly the one thing that carried me through the darker days and kept me seeking health. Well, that and the fact that I was determined to help my son. I was motivated to keep going to help my family. And, faith in the journey lit the path.

Send me a DM if you’d like the link to Mom’s Sanity. You can also find it by visiting my website linked in bio.

Sending all the moms lots of love ❤️

I asked my husband to get a little b-roll and a few behind the scenes shots from my sunrise photoshoot with Devon (the BEST) Devon Morgan McKenna

He was really proud of the image of me through the grass…like an animal in the wild 😜 🦍

Looking forward to seeing Devon’s 📸

Wasn’t planning to post about the Clancy case — I’m not following it. But a clip of a psychiatrist discussing stopping Zoloft took my breath away.

We tell clients to talk to their prescriber about medication changes. This is exactly why that referral has to be a good one, not just any one — especially around de-prescribing.

Stay informed. Find real referral sources. Help your clients advocate. Have the support you need.

At least one day out of each week I think, “I’m never posting again.” 😅 and then, I get an idea to share and…I post.

I’ve had multiple conversations with practitioners this week about the vulnerability of posting online. This is particularly tricky for solo practitioners ~ how much to share is a concern + what feels authentic and aligned versus what feels like a puppet performance.

Here are a few things I’ve noticed as a practitioner and business owner posting on social media:

1. Sometimes it feels embarrassing

2. I ask myself “is this potentially helpful to someone or strategic”? Sometimes posting what our business coach recommends feels necessary and strategic (which is ok). Posting from an authentic perspective to help others always feels better.

3. The genuine connections made are worth it

4. Viral reels don’t (always) equal business growth

5. “What other people think of you is none of your business” has been a helpful phrase to internally repeat

6. Compassionate self-talk and radical self-love are keys to staying connected to our common humanity & remaining rooted in vitality (an embodied practice)

7. You win some, you lose some. But, if you jump in, you’ll learn what feels right for you. (And delete or archive are options😉)

Our worth is not connected to our success or failure ~ certainly this is true about our online presence. Thankfully. You and I, we are worthy.

Felt like sharing. Might delete later 😄
