Let’s talk honestly about Minnesota’s cannabis market.
A lot of attention goes to licenses, applications, and launch timelines. But the harder part is what happens after that: training staff, serving customers responsibly, keeping clean records, understanding medical cannabis expectations, and staying ready for compliance checks.
So we want to ask the community:
Where do you think Minnesota cannabis businesses need the most support right now?
Comment with your answer:
A. Training staff
B. Building documentation systems
C. Preparing for medical patient consultation
D. Tracking inventory and products
E. Keeping up with rule changes
F. Preparing for local compliance checks
G. Labeling and testing records
H. All of the above

Based on the conversation around what Minnesota cannabis businesses may be underprepared for, I wanted to share a simple explanation of where the Certified Medical Cannabis Consultant role fits in.
A CMCC is trained to support medical cannabis patients through responsible, patient-centered consultation.
That may include helping patients better understand:
• product types
• possible effects
• serving size and safety considerations
• documentation expectations
• when to refer questions back to a medical provider
• how to navigate cannabis in a more informed way
For businesses preparing for medical retail endorsement, the CMCC role matters because medical cannabis is not just regular retail. It requires a higher level of care, communication, documentation, and compliance readiness.
Minnesota’s market is still new, so this is a good time for professionals and operators to understand the role before the need becomes urgent.
What questions do you have about the CMCC role?

NECANN was a powerful reminder that Minnesota’s cannabis industry is still being built in real time.
Charles and I were grateful for the opportunity to connect with operators, educators, advocates, entrepreneurs, and professionals who are all thinking about what responsible cannabis growth should look like in our state.
At Lauryn House, we are continuing to focus on practical cannabis education, CMCC training, workforce readiness, and compliance-centered tools that help people and businesses prepare for this next phase of Minnesota’s market.
We’re proud to be part of the conversation and excited for what’s ahead.
