5th Grade student have been participating in D.A.R.E.(Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education) classes, for the last 10 weeks. Today we celebrated their graduation. Winners of the D.A.R.E. Essay contest are as follows:

Liberty Foster from Mrs. Smith’s class.
Skyler McAlee from Mrs. Zampogna’s class.
Overall winner: Emerie Mather from Miss Mattivi’s class.

SMASD is accepting PreK Pre-Enrollment applicants for the 2026-27 school year starting on January 6th at noon.

Our 4th and 5th grade elementary chorus students recently participated in an amazing event, the YV26 Wicked Worldwide Singalong, uniting remotely with over 300,000 children worldwide to sing songs from the award-winning musical Wicked.
Special thanks to SMAHS music teacher Mr. Brooks and some HS choir students who came down to rehearse and sing with us for this event. We enjoyed having you visit and participate in some music classes too!

Once again this year, South we will be participating in One School One Book. Along with the book we are selling T shirts to celebrate 250 years of America! The profits of the T-shirt sales will go to the Mary Mattivi Scholarship Fund.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Clothing and Food Drives held during the month of November. It was a wonderful way to teach our students compassion, social responsibility, and gratitude. The Guardian Angel Center and The Christian Food Bank are grateful for your generosity!

Congratulations to our very own para educators, Mrs. Potthoff, Mrs. Showers, and Mrs. Shuttleworth! They earned their associate degree in education from Northern Pennsylvania Regional College. They earned their degrees while working hard for our students every day. Thank you for your dedication to our students and your own education! We are grateful for you!

Recently all elementary students received a free book of their choice . This was made possible through a generous donation from the St. Marys Area United Way. In library class students were presented with 6-10 choices and were able to pick their favorite. Books were delivered before Thanksgiving break. The students were very excited. Thank you United Way for helping us promote reading.
