Congratulations to my research student Avee for successfully defending her thesis titled, “Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) Host Specificity for Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) Oviposition at an Isolated Indiana Wetland.” She crushed it, and I can’t wait to see what she does next! So proud of all my students, and I’m excited that the future of science is in their hands!

Come join me to learn more about how climate change is affecting the ocean!

Ages 16 & Up: Ocean water covers 70% of the Earth’s surface and plays an important role in maintaining the global environment—from absorbing excess heat to safely storing carbon dioxide. However, ocean temperatures, currents, and sea levels are being drastically altered as the climate changes. Dr. James Brinson, Associate Professor of Ecology and the Environmental Science Program Coordinator at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, will discuss the impact of these changes on critical marine ecosystems, local communities, and global systems which effect everyone’s lives.

They did it! Congrats to all! I’m really gonna miss them, but I can’t wait to see what they’ll do! 💙🤍
