When a graduate from last year, watches the first broadcast of the new school year last Friday (and sends this text to the adviser immediately after it is posted that morning) showing his support and encouragement to his old classmates, confirms the fact that these students are creating far more than just an episode each week. Pausing on following up on ad sales yesterday,so yearbook students could focus on their meeting with the Jostens graphic design artist via zoom during class to create this year’s custom cover.

Such creative students! Each year they build on the theme from the year before to tell the story of our school that year. They look at and decide on every single detail as a team from color palettes, graphic elements, typography/font, and word play that they will work hard to carry out those details throughout the entire book.

They truly want to give their classmates the absolute best and most meaningful book they possibly can and they strive and work hard towards that all year long.

Loved seeing how competitive the table groups were on putting in order the 45 words that make up the First Amendment. The fastest time was 1:54.

First couple of weeks down and these students have already learned the first amendment, case laws, and ethics surrounding journalism. This is just the beginning of their journalism journey and we could not be more excited for them!

What an incredible yearly tradition and treasure I have the honor to pick up every summer! Getting to see last year's framed “art” has me excited to see this year's cover featuring the theme 'WE ARE', which I look forward to seeing in person in a few short weeks (hopefully), and then we'll proudly submit this one for critique by the October deadline and keep this tradition going.
