Last week we had a pilot for a brand new program and Max finally had his time to shine!

6 years ago, Max and Buster made First Nature Ranch their forever home. With little training or handling, they both needed plenty of care and work to trust people.

Within the last year, Buster made his debut in our Horse Wisdom for Heroes program and has been part of many others as well.

Max, being a much more spirited, playfully dominant, and easily bored horse, has not been suitable for our current roster of programs that have more to do with stress reduction and awareness.

But last week Max was the perfect horse to work alongside first responders to help them become aware of their breathing and emotional state as they attempted to walk Max through activities with no lead rope.

Way to go, Max! We are so proud of you and that your unique personality has the perfect place to shine!

Today we celebrate World Animal Day and the beautiful creatures who bring so much joy, connection, and peace to not only our lives, but the lives of all of those brave enough to partner with them.

Our herd of horses have touched hundreds of lives just this year alone, and we are so grateful they allow us to partner with them to do the work we do!

The beauty of it is that this picture and action teach one of the most important lessons we can learn.

Rest. Rest is essential for a healthy body, mind, and soul. And yet so many of us hustle so hard that rest becomes the enemy. We must always be moving and doing, disdaining rest for productivity.

But rest makes productivity easier. Rest makes hard tasks more bearable. Rest keeps us healthy.

So take a page from Kody's book and take a little rest today.
