🌿 Homeschooling doesn’t have to mean doing everything alone.

So, what does a typical week at CKC St. Cloud actually look like?

We’re a secular, outdoor homeschool co-op built around community, connection, and hands-on learning. Our goal isn’t to recreate a traditional school in a different building. It’s to give homeschool families a place to learn alongside one another, spend time outside, and build relationships.

📚 Tuesday–Thursday | Academic Days
Our academic days blend literature, math, science, STEM challenges, current events, art, and hands-on activities. Whenever possible, learning moves outside, because sometimes the best classroom is a trail, a picnic table, a garden, or a patch of grass.

🎨 Fridays | Enrichment Days
Fridays have a little different rhythm. We make room for creativity, games, nature exploration, life skills, field trips, seasonal activities, and plenty of time for kids to simply be kids together.

🤝 And throughout the week, parents are part of the community.
CKC is a true co-op. Parents help teach, assist, volunteer, participate in activities, and contribute their own skills and ideas. The adults aren’t just dropping their kids off, we’re building this together.

At the heart of CKC, it’s really pretty simple:
Families learning together, kids growing together, and a community showing up for one another. 💛

New Co-op Year loading…
While our students are enjoying the last little bits of summer, our teachers are already hard at work getting ready for an incredible year. 📚✨

Curriculum is being organized. Projects are being planned. Supplies are being gathered. And there are A LOT of fun things happening behind the scenes that we can’t wait to share with our families.

This picture is just a small glimpse of the people putting so much thought, creativity, and heart into making this co-op something special.

🌿 Days at Carolina Kids Co-Op are about more than learning—they’re about belonging.

They’re filled with crafting together, exploring our community, asking questions, getting a little messy, sharing ideas, and making memories along the way. ☀️🎨📚

Our students get to learn alongside their friends and experience the world around them—not just through books, but through conversations, nature, local adventures, hands-on projects, and the people who make our community special. 💛

There’s something beautiful about watching kids grow more confident as they find their place in a group, build friendships, help one another, and discover that learning can happen almost anywhere.

Because childhood isn’t meant to happen behind four walls.

It’s meant to be curious, connected, creative, and full of community.🌱✨

The Recipe for the Perfect Homeschool Co-op ❤️🌿

👩‍🍳 Ingredients:
1 welcoming community
26+ curious learners
A generous handful of passionate families
A few dedicated leaders
Plenty of books, pencils, and creativity
Fresh air and outdoor adventures
Hands-on learning
Field trips, laughter, and muddy shoes
A pinch of flexibility
A whole lot of grace
Endless encouragement

Directions:
Mix families from different backgrounds with a shared love of learning.
Fold in curiosity and hands-on experiences until confidence begins to grow.
Sprinkle in friendships that extend beyond co-op days.
Add nature, exploration, and plenty of opportunities to get messy.
Stir together challenges and celebrations, remembering that every child learns at their own pace.
Season generously with patience, kindness, and encouragement.

Behind the Scenes at CKC St. Cloud 🌿

One of the things that makes a co-op so special is that we're building something together.

Last week, our CKC leadership team came together to prepare for the year ahead. We distributed curriculum and supplies, organized our learning spaces, talked through plans, and made sure everything is ready for another incredible year of learning and community.

When everyone is prepared, our co-op runs more smoothly, families feel supported, and our students get the best experience possible.

We believe a co-op is more than just classes, it's friendships, teamwork, shared experiences, and a community that grows stronger each year.
We're counting down the days until we can welcome everyone back for another year of learning, exploring, and making memories together. Here's to an amazing 2026–2027 school year! ❤️🌳

💚 "But what about socialization?" 💚

It's probably the question homeschool families hear the most.
The reality? Homeschooling doesn't mean learning alone.

One of the greatest benefits of joining a co-op is that socializing becomes natural. Children build friendships while working on science experiments, playing at the park, reading together, creating art, solving challenges, and exploring the world around them. They're interacting with peers of different ages, collaborating, communicating, and learning from one another every week.

And it's not just the kids who benefit.

Parents find a community too. A place to share ideas, celebrate milestones, ask questions, and build lasting friendships with families who understand the homeschool journey.

The stereotype that homeschoolers "aren't social" couldn't be further from the truth. Many homeschoolers spend their days learning alongside friends, participating in clubs and sports, volunteering, attending community events, and building relationships with people of all ages, not just those born in the same year.
Because socialization isn't just about being around other children.
It's about learning to communicate, collaborate, show kindness, solve problems, and become part of a community.

And that's exactly what we strive to do every week at CKC. 🌿💚

If your family didn't receive a PEP scholarship this year, don't panic. ❤️
Homeschooling doesn't have to happen at a desk, or come with a big price tag. 🌳🍃

Some of the best classrooms don't have four walls. They have hiking trails, playgrounds, nature preserves, community gardens, libraries, museums, and parks. Children learn through exploring, asking questions, climbing, observing, creating, and experiencing the world around them.

I know many families are feeling discouraged right now, but I want to remind you of something:
Not receiving PEP funding does NOT mean you can't have an incredible homeschool year.

🍎✏️ Is Your Little One Getting Ready for Kindergarten? 🌿
One of the questions we hear most often is, "What skills should my child have before starting kindergarten?"

The truth is, every child develops at their own pace! Here are a few foundational skills that can help your little learner feel confident:
🌟 Recognize and write their first name
🔤 Identify most uppercase and lowercase letters
🔊 Recognize letter sounds
📖 Enjoy listening to stories and talking about books
🔢 Count to 20 (or higher!) and recognize numbers 1–10
🎨 Hold a pencil, crayons, and scissors with increasing confidence
🎒 Follow simple directions and complete short tasks
🤝 Practice taking turns, sharing, and using kind words
🧦 Work on simple independence skills like putting on shoes, opening lunch containers, washing hands, and cleaning up after themselves
🌳 Be curious, ask questions, explore, and play!

Remember, kindergarten isn't about perfection, it's about building confidence, developing a love of learning, and growing one step at a time. ❤️

Every child starts their journey from a different place, and that's okay. Celebrate progress, keep learning fun, and know that play is one of the best teachers of all.
