Excited to introduce two new additions to the GRMS Stingray family!!
Ms. Clement
Teaching, tutoring, and mentoring have always been part of my life. After graduating from the University of Florida with a BA in Linguistics, I left a software career to homeschool my four kids for the next 20 years — my youngest starts 9th grade this year!
Along the way, I’ve tutored math at St. Johns River State College, taught Pre-K, 7th grade science, and 5th grade, and volunteered with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Battalion for six+ years, training cadets to become leaders of character.
Now I’m excited to be teaching 6th grade math at Gamble Rogers Middle School — looking forward to a great year!
Mr. Matthews
This is my second year teaching science in the district! Last year was my first year in the district — teaching at the high school level in an EBD unit. This year, I’m excited to be moving to the middle grades, where my energy (and sanity) seem to mesh well with the students. I’ve heard wonderful things about this school and staff, and I’m looking forward to continuing that tradition!

Our students had an out-of-this-world experience at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama!! From astronaut training and mission simulations to teamwork challenges and hands on STEM activities, they explored, learned and reached for the stars!! We are so proud of their hard work, curiosity and adventurous spirit!!

Welcome to the GRMS Family!
We’re excited to introduce four new additions to our team!
Ms. Ayala – ELA Teacher: Educated at Baker College and CMU, she began her career teaching kindergarten before moving to middle school ELA. After relocating to Florida, she’s continued growing through collaboration and professional learning, driven by a belief that great teachers never stop learning.
Lindsay Jones – EBD Teacher: With 12 years at Babylon Jr.-Sr. High School in Long Island teaching English, AP Lit, AP Seminar, and Special Ed, Lindsay holds degrees from Hofstra and multiple SWD/ELA certifications, plus new Florida certifications in English and ESE. She’s passionate about building structured, supportive spaces for every student to thrive.
Ms. Reese – Reading Teacher: A Flagler College grad with 4 years in St. Johns County, Ms. Reese was named Freedom Crossing Academy’s 2024-2025 Rookie Teacher of the Year. She loves helping readers build confidence and discover a love of learning.
Mr. Pritikin – History Teacher: A Jacksonville University and FIU grad (BA History/English, MA History), Mr. Pritikin spent a decade teaching at Broward College, Miami-Dade College, and University of Phoenix before moving to K-12. This is his 5th year teaching and first in St. Johns County.
We can’t wait for a great year together! 🍎

Ms. Clauson returned to The Roundtable to celebrate excellence in education. She had the honor of attending the Commissioner’s Reception and the Teacher of the Year Gala, surrounded by the best educators in our State.
Her cup is full, and the future is bright! She is excited to continue pouring into her school community and the students who make this work worth it everyday.

We're Back from an Incredible Best Buddies Leadership Conference! 💜
What an unforgettable experience for our Best Buddies chapter! Kaelynn and Sophia proudly represented our school at their very first Best Buddies Leadership Conference at Indiana University—and what an amazing three days it was!
The girls traveled before dawn to Indiana University, where they experienced college dorm life (communal showers and all!), attended educational sessions, exchanged ideas with chapters from around the world, and brought home so many new ideas to strengthen our own chapter.
Along the way, they sang, danced, enjoyed plenty of dining hall ice cream, were inspired by incredible keynote speakers, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. They even had the opportunity to meet some special guests, including Madison from Love on the Spectrum, Miss America, and Miss Delaware!
🌟 An amazing accomplishment:
Out of 2,600 attendees, only 22 were middle school students, just 4 were from Florida, and 2 of those students were ours from North Florida! We couldn't be more proud of the way Kaelynn and Sophia represented our school and community.
A heartfelt thank you to our Stingray family for your continued support of our Best Buddies chapter and our mission of inclusion, friendship, and belonging. Your encouragement is one of the reasons we have been recognized as North Florida's Chapter of the Year for three consecutive years!
We can't wait to build on everything we learned and make this our best year yet!
