With all of the research telling us about the negative side affects related to tech in classrooms, it's hard to believe some districts are still investing in these technologies.
Watch talk about the current situation with Houston ISD and her very valid crashout at the amount of tech being used at every school - not just those transitioning to AI campuses (whatever that means). Wouldn't we rather have teachers teaching students than bots?!?
As someone who was trained in research-based strategies for 6 years as a teacher and has worked in education for over 15 years, creating authentic learning experiences for students is the best way to help children become strong, independent critical thinkers.

Less tech and more teaching. Schools are finally moving away from tech thanks to all the bad press and all of the evidence showing us how bad it is for children. Now that we have those instructional minutes back we want to make sure teachers have the tools they need to create meaningful learning experiences for the students in their classrooms.
I love taking all of the strategy planning off the plates of teachers and administrators. You all have enough to do!

When students reflect, learning sticks.
Using any of these strategies (or others that provide space and time for processing during class) mean that students can grapple with new concepts, ask questions, get help and connect the dots before they leave the classroom. Those last 5 minutes are precious, so let's use them!
