10 Most Devastating Effects of Getting Rid of the Department of Education

When Donald Trump recently promised that, if elected, he would abolish the Department of Education, Democrats pounced on the statement, foretelling an apocalyptic hellscape of the uneducated should the federal government no longer oversee education in the United States.

Through extensive investigation, The Babylon Bee has compiled the following list of far-reaching and terrifying consequences of abolishing the Department of Education:

Fewer tax dollars taken by the federal government: You may now be forced to take your kids to Disneyland this year.

Children will only learn about two of the seventy-two genders: Unless they live in California, then they can still learn about all seventy-two genders AND how to smoke pot out of a banana peel all before second grade.

Child might be left behind: This has not happened once since it was declared America declared NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND.

Kids will learn how to do math the actual way instead of with those weird number lines: Imagine the world returning to actual mathematics instead of the mysterious, arcane processes of Common Core.

No one to write "this page intentionally left blank" on intentionally left blank pages on standardized tests: States won't be able to handle this level of complicated bureaucratic fenangling.

4,400 unelected government bureaucrats will have to find new jobs as CNN correspondents: Nothing is more terrifying than adding more CNN correspondents.

Kids will never learn how to do anything: Just like how it was before 1979 when the Department of Education was founded.

Decentralizing government power is always a bad idea: In such a dangerous scenario, freedom may ensue.

No one will D.A.R.E. to keep kids off drugs: Illicit drugs will run rampant through American schools which is totally different from the way things are now.

2+2 will equal 4 again: Back to the horrific, oppressive days of the 1950s we go!

For Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips, one theme in his life remains constant: the faithfulness of God.

Jack Phillips has stood in court to defend free speech for all of us—for over a decade—and he remains standing, even to this day.

Because, while Jack won his first case for freedom at the U.S. Supreme Court, he’s still defending himself from an activist attorney who has requested that Jack create a cake to celebrate a “gender transition.” This same attorney also requested a cake depicting Satan smoking ma*****na.

Neither Jack nor anyone else should be coerced into expressing messages that conflict with their conscience.

Jack serves all people, but he cannot express a message he doesn’t agree with. His expressive decisions do not turn on who is requesting the cake but on what the cake promotes.

Jack’s stand for his First Amendment freedoms is also a stand for the freedom of every American. A Democratic publicist, for example, shouldn’t be forced to promote Republican talking points. Nor should atheists be forced to express religious messages that they disagree with.

This case is critical because a win in this case would reaffirm that free speech is for everyone, including those with beliefs the government disagrees with.

Where are all my "kids" now. It has been nearly 20 years since I taught Band, Choir, and Drivers Ed/Health. That means that each of you are in you 30s and I am really old.

Who is still doing music?

I still miss you. I had a great time at Pierce.

WOW. I found my copy of the 2003 Piercer.

It is great to see the comments that my students made. All were positive.

I really miss my Kids and teaching at Pierce. It saddens me greatly that the board decided to drop most of the music. So many students missed out on the opportunity to express greatness through music in Band and/choir.

God has blessed me these last 17 years an allowed me to teach music in a couple of privater schools.

Any of my students or fellow teachers who want to connect, please do so.
