Teach, train & empower young people to become authentic communicators that impact the world through writing, reading, and critical thinking We get it.

Those have been our guiding principles at The Write Journey for over 20 years. What started as a grassroots effort by one mother to be more involved in her children’s education has grown into a community of teachers and parents supporting one another – and children. Homeschool parents face many challenges: a busy family, endless distractions, and a fire hose of “new ideas.” Parents have the desire

What makes writing great isn’t just what students say—but how they say it.
In our Elementary Writing Foundations course, students learn to revise their rough drafts using stylistic elements that bring clarity and interest to their writing:
✔️Strong nouns
✔️Powerful action verbs
✔️Purposeful adjectives and adverbs ✔️Varied sentence beginnings
✔️Natural transitions
✔️Sentence length variety

Each of these skills is introduced step-by-step — so students don't just write more, they write better.
This isn’t about flashy words. It’s about building confident, capable writers who focus on using words with intention and meaning. ✍🏼

Lacking a clear and concise understanding of the function of each sentence in a paragraph can lead students to ramble in their writing. We guide students in crafting exceptional paragraphs by dissecting the process. Attend our webinar to explore how breaking writing into "chunks" can prevent rambling and uphold the flow of ideas. ✍🏼

Quality writing means:
⭐️ ideas are interesting and relevant
⭐️ content is informative – not simply opinion-based
⭐️ points are well-organized
⭐️ grammar and spelling are correct
⭐️ the message can be understood

That’s A LOT! When students are first learning how to write, this can be a challenge. With smaller compositions, students don’t feel as overwhelmed with the expectation of creating quality writing; whereas, they often feel quite overwhelmed with the demand to write lengthy compositions. We have found that allowing students time to practice writing short compositions, while teaching them aspects of excellent writing, results in quality writing that students can progress to apply in lengthier compositions.

Join us at our upcoming webinar to learn more about why to aim for quality over quantity with writing! 👩‍💻

Annotating means “commenting on” or reflecting while reading. It requires marking in the pages of the book your responses to the text. We like to call this your conversation with the author or the novel. This helps to slow down reading, and employ critical thinking by actively understanding and engaging with the text. 📖🔍

Explore more ways to develop the skill of annotation through our Blending Literature With Writing Guide! ✨📒
