Rail Innovation in Action is a new virtual program created in partnership with Lemelson-MIT all about exploring and developing innovations in rail transportation. This fully funded experience is open to high school students nationwide, completely free of charge! 🆓😁

🧠No prior knowledge of railroading is necessary—all students need is curiosity and a passion for innovation. Priority may be given to low-income, traditionally marginalized communities.

✍️Applications are open until August 16, 2024 and the program runs on Saturdays from September 28 to November 2, 2024. More details and information about the program can be found at 🔗⬇️

🍁For the Fall 2024 pilot year, students will discover real world challenges and the latest innovations in MOTIVE POWER: the energy used to power locomotives.

💻Each student will be coasting through virtual tours, completing lab simulations, and will work together as a dev team to launch their own railway invention alongside real industry professionals. By the end of the program, teams will be presenting their own college-level research projects to friends and family. 😎

Now that I am fully rested (kind of 😆) I can finally make this thank you video 😭 MY HEART IS SO FULL OF GRATITUDE reflecting back on this historical day. May 25th, 2024 will forever hold a special place in my collection of memories 🥹 this day represented community love, cultural healing, and a celebration for all Pasifika people to continue making waves for their people both in and outside of their communities, on and off the fields, and in and out the systems that weren’t created with us in mind.
