“Crazy Color Lab”- Week 3 (Unfortunately week 2 was cancelled due to snow😢). We made up for it with a really fun couple art projects!
We explored scratch art and created our own masterpieces using paper plates & oil pastels. We painted over our designs with black tempera paint and then scratched unique designs to reveal the beauty underneath. It was magical!
We then continued our study on basic color theory exploring primary, secondary and tertiary colors with watercolor galaxies and geometric designs.
Next week we move to our new session “Big & Bold Art”. Visit staycreativestudios.net to register!

“Crazy Color Lab!”- Week 1
What an amazing, fun and extremely messy session!!
We learned all about the artist Jackson Pollack. We then let “action Jackson” inspire us to create our own abstract masterpieces by dripping, splattering and flinging paint on our own canvas on the ground! As you can imagine this was an absolute hit and my studio floor needs a good cleaning 😂
We also began our study on basic color theory and practiced color mixing by shaking hands with our three primary colors! This is a fun way to help artists visually see how colors mix!
We also made beautiful abstract string art and tie dye watercolor paper towels exploring warm, cool and neutral colors!
Overall it was a great beginning to this fun session that’s all about color!🌈

Week 3: “The Art of Black and White “
This week we studied abstract composition! We started out with my favorite activity…process art! The artists got to create collaborative murals using a variety of objects as their “paint brushes.” They then got to create individual pieces by using a viewfinder to choose different compositions that they liked and that followed the composition lesson. They then cut them out and mounted them.
My artists then had the BEST time creating black and white abstract marble art pieces! They absolutely LOVED this activity!
