Education and prevention of HIV and STDs Alarmingly, a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control indicates that HIV infection among youth has skyrocketed.
Responding to an immediate need in our community; the Capital City AIDS Fund (CCAF) has undertaken an aggressive effort to promote HIV and STD prevention to Sacramento area youth. And, 50% of the new infections are in youth under 25 years of age!

As government buildings and private businesses around the world went red for World AIDS Day, Sacramento HIV/AIDS activists have been working to turn California's State Capitol dome red - only to be repeatedly declined by Assemblyman Ken Cooley. A simple flip of the switch could literally have helped save lives. Cooley's decision may have kept the dome dark this past December 1, but it brought light to the outrageous sigma and fear that lives on around HIV.
