At tournaments, kids:
— learn how to make decisions independently during real games
— practice staying focused under pressure
— gain official rated tournament experience
— become more confident with every round they play

And this is usually where the biggest growth happens because tournaments push children to apply their knowledge in real situations, think independently, and step outside of their comfort zone.

• Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Check-in: 1:30–2:00 PM)

♟ USCF-rated Scholastic Quads Players are grouped into 4-player quads based on their official USCF rating
♟ A great opportunity to build confidence and tournament experience

How do we keep children engaged throughout the years at Silicon Valley Chess Academy? ♟️

Because our lessons are built very differently.

Kids don’t just sit and listen for an hour.
During every class they are constantly involved in the process:
♟ solving puzzles
♟ thinking through positions
♟ playing with classmates
♟ discussing ideas with coaches
♟ learning through interaction and practice

We also make sure every child feels comfortable in their group and understands their progress step by step.

Our coaches truly connect with students, support them, and keep them motivated which makes a huge difference in how children feel during lessons.

And of course, the environment matters too.
Tournaments, friendships, healthy competition, and a strong community make kids excited to come back again and again ♟️
