If you are local to Sacramento, I will be at Barnes & Noble Citrus Heights for a reading and book signing Saturday, Nov 9 at noon. Fall is the time when the diversity of wildlife at the American River is at its peak all waiting to enjoy a meal of salmon who arrive to span. For those who are interested, I will lead a brief walk along the river showing you the best place to view the salmon swimming and spawning and the boat launch ramp where waterfowl meet and eat. Enjoy a "Simple Things Saturday"
Seeing the sun in my eye and a smile on my face.
Feeling sand between my toes and the wind's cool embrace.
Watch the rising of the tides of the crystal clear blue sea,
A seagull flies above my head and takes a look at me.
These are the simple things I can do for me.
These are the simple things I can do for free.

New post on Outdoortopia.org this morning describing Regenerative Education: Teaching and Learning that Heals and Restores. New approach for learning aligns with principles of sustainability, resilience and holistic development. Education is connection and relationship with nature, self and others. Going beyond the typical focus on academic achievement to embrace student well-being, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Embracing nature education in schools goes way beyond "play." Nature connections are the healthier choice for everyone
