Hundreds of salmon are swimming upriver - go in the next two weeks for the best views and abundant wildlife (turkey vultures, gulls, Egrets, Great Blue Heron) looking for an easy meal.

If you are local to Sacramento, I will be at Barnes & Noble Citrus Heights for a reading and book signing Saturday, Nov 9 at noon. Fall is the time when the diversity of wildlife at the American River is at its peak all waiting to enjoy a meal of salmon who arrive to span. For those who are interested, I will lead a brief walk along the river showing you the best place to view the salmon swimming and spawning and the boat launch ramp where waterfowl meet and eat. During my morning walk at the American River, I looked up to see a deer family half way across the river and took this video. They ran across the bike trail in front of speeding cyclists to reach the trees.
