I'm not apologizing.
Too bad that the algorithm zombies don't like me switching things up.
Here's the deal.
When I find something that lights me up, I dive in deep.
Usually, I do this for several years, and don't give up easily.
This means that since my first entrepreneurial adventure in 2003, I've jumped into 7 different pools, and dived deep into each one.
That's an average of 3 years each, but in truth, some were 10 years, and some were 6 months.
I can pivot quickly if I need.
That means, the social overlords don't like me much.
They can't pin me on a board, and know who I am.
They can't figure out who to show my stuff to.
I was chatting with one of my dear friends the other day, and she said that she knows that I will innovate and discover the next amazing thing, and share it with her.
She loves that about me.
That was one of the best compliments anyone has ever given me.
That is what I love to do.
I listen to people.
I talk to people.
If this thing, or that thing lights me up, I dive in, then share.
So, what lights me up right now?
Video, but not in the way you think.
AI, but also not in the way you think.
Education, but completely contrary to the way you probably think.
What about you?
Do you stick with the same thing for years, and find fulfillment in it anew every day?
Or, are you a wanderer like me?

I bet you can relate to this...
You post and post and post to get leads.
You land a few leads.
And do the work.
And then your back on the hamster wheel to find more leads.
Yeah, it was my never ending cycle, too, and it was frustrating.
I had a marketing agency where I learned this painful lesson.
I got some amazing results for some wonderful clients. One client made $1M in sales in 99 days from my chatbot funnel to a webinar with zero ads.
Then it was back to the hamster wheel to do it again.
And again.
And again.
But, I never want to do again.
So, I made the choice.
Choosing short-term lead generation vs. long-term demand generation.
One leads to burnout. One leads to predictable revenue, and so many amazing relationships with long term customers.
So let's discuss the differences between leadgen and demandgen.
Lead generation focuses your marketing on the 5% of business owners that are currently in the market.
Ready to buy.
If you focus on lead generation here on LinkedIn, you do these things:
- constantly hitting the DMs to get people into your funnel
- endless email marketing
- cold calling
If your focus is on leadgen, you're playing the short game looking for transactions.
You're asking a prospect for a meeting trying to pull them into your sales process to convince them to buy now.
I bet you see a lot of experts here on Facebook sharing their playbook and suggesting you do the same thing.
You're on the hamster wheel of lead generation and transactions.
If you ever pause, you're in the downward run of the rollercoaster.
While you're panicking.
Then there's demand generation.
They're the 95% not ready to buy today.
With demandgen, your focus is on building awareness, trust, and relationships.
Which results in you being a thought leader.
The intent is to create demand for your solution and capture that demand when the customer is ready.
Demandgen creates a 'pull' effect.
With demandgen, the prospects invite you into their buying process.
As opposed to you inviting them into your selling process.
The difference is huge.
In fact, so huge that Gartner revealed in a recent study 72% of buyers prefer a seller-free experience.
I suspect that you do as well.
Consumers want to buy on their time, and their B.S. meter is at an all time high.
Demand generation is your predictable strategy that brings people to you.
And when people come to you, you don't have to sell.
Demandgen produces better leads, shorter sales cycles, and higher close rates.
If you're looking for that, your first step is to Be Relatable.
Using interactive video with re-engagement to build relationships.
Everyone is either watching or listening these days.
And you've got to have video as part of your demandgen digital footprint.
It's time to take a different approach.
Try demandgen with Relatable.
What do you think? Are you getting tired of the hamster wheel or the revenue rollercoaster?
Let customers demand your products.

Neil Patel says, "Great marketing starts with knowing your customer." With respect, I think that's backward.
Great marketing starts with knowing yourself.
If your business exists to help others beyond the transaction that creates a customer, you are part of your business, and you're not in business simply to make money.
Then, you can know the customers you are best placed to serve, and who perfectly align with your products, services and business.
How do you get to know yourself?
Well, I'm not here to advocate for a meditation retreat or Reiki reading. Participate in those if they help you uncover the human trying to help other humans (H2H), rather than the business trying to sell to other businesses or consumers (B2B & B2C)
Know what you stand for, and against.
Then, take that stand in public.
Are you tired of seeing another ad in your feed that tries to capture those you serve with a clever funnel designed to sell, rather than valuable content designed to build a helpful relationship?
Say so.
Great marketing in the 21st Century starts with knowing yourself. Then, and only then, can you know the customer you serve.
Please tell me, what do you do differently in your business, because of something that really bugs you in your industry?
Comment so we can start a conversation. Please don't just "like" and scroll on by. 😁

If you're thinking of putting much of your energy into blogging or newsletter writing, you might want to rethink that.
“There are 6.84 billion active cell phone users in the world - that's 96.2% of the world's population. The consumption of video grew by 101% over the last five years compared to blog post consumption growth at 17%.”
GMSA 2023 & Wyzowl 2022 Study
If you're an entrepreneur, and you feel uncomfortable staring into the camera, because you need to record perfect videos with perfect backgrounds and scripts, I'd suggest that you get over that one, too.
“70% of consumers are more likely to trust a company after watching a video from the CEO. 55% of consumers are more likely to recommend a company to others after watching a video from the CEO.”
Sprout Social and Hubspot
Producing authentic, value-based video content (especially interactive videos) for your community will help future-proof your business.
Try it, and let me know if I can help.

I used to say that conversational design and chatbots could increase webinar attendance by 30%, because those were our average results.
Thank you FB for bringing back permission based daily notifications, because that average has been blown away!

- Client CRUSHES the sales live!
- We are adding mobile wallet event passes for push notifications, and what do you think will happen next?
