AB 524, The Greek A.C.T (Accountability, Change, Transparency) has officially been signed into California law๐
SASA is beyond proud to have cosponsored this legislation with and we are so thankful for everyone who helped make this possible๐ค
Starting in 2023, the Greek A.C.T. will bring insight to misconduct and sexual violence that occurs in Greek life and Greek organizations. This information will help students and community members make safe and informed decisions with their bodies. The Greek A.C.T. is truly a victory for our California college and university communities.

SASA is thrilled to announce that the CA Assembly Bill we have sponsored alongside UC Student Association], AB 524, passed out of the Senate Committee on Education with a vote of 7-0. ๐๐๐
AB 524 would require fraternities and sororities to submit publicly accessible annual reports that includes a variety of information about each chapter, including citations or disciplinary actions taken regarding misconduct at chapter houses or sanctioned events.
This bill would provide students with the necessary information to make educated decisions about where they go to socialize, which organizations to join, and who they choose to interact with. It would also provide institutions with accurate data surrounding misconduct that would assist in their efforts to combat the sexual assault epidemic on college campuses.
Thank you to Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez for authoring this important piece of legislation and to UC Student Association] for working alongside us in sponsoring this bill. This vote brings us one step closer to increasing transparency of misconduct and ensuring essential safety information is accessible to students.๐ค
It is now being referred to the Committee on Appropriations, stay tuned as we work towards the billโs passage!๐ซ
