You ever feel like at any moment all the glue that holds you together will just come undone? And yet, underneath the sheer terror you feel that it might happen is a quiet yearning to just get it over with. Then you realize that dealing with the juxtaposition of those two emotional states, total terror and quiet overwhelming yearning, is what is pulling the glue apart in the first place.

Because it is !

Many are not aware of our low percentage of mothers who breastfeed. Many of our babies are not making it past 1 and our mothers are not making it off the hospital beds.

Let us be aware and create a shift. Stand in solidarity with your sisters.

Post your breastfeeding pics and share the tag or check out the hashtag and encourage those who are . I am because we are.

As difficult as it is to remember and revisit past trauma, our collective silence is what allows that abuse to happen again to someone else.

In the summer of 2014, ImprovingBirth.org began breaking the silence on abuse and trauma in maternity care. We asked YOU to share your experiences, to help spur change.

We are also providing information and resources for trauma and how to file a complaint for mistreatment in childbirth, and sharing the video stories of several brave women who have fought to have their voices heard. (See here: http://improvingbirth.org/trauma-toolkit and http://improvingbirth.org/complaint-toolkit)
