Every IEP meeting ends with a plan. The plan only matters if someone in the classroom can build it.

Teachers. Paraprofessionals. School BCBAs. Speech-language pathologists. The bridge between an IEP goal and a quiet win at the back table is built every morning, by people whose training has to fit a school day — not a clinic schedule.

Special Learning builds school-program materials for the people who do the actual building. Tell us what would help your team this year → special-learning.com/the-bridge-builders

A look at what is coming from us over the next 90 days.

We did a content audit this spring and found gaps. Our ABA content is strong. Our content for psychologists, SLPs, OTs, and special-ed teachers has been uneven. We have sometimes cited clinical-behavior sources where we should have cited the discipline's actual professional standards.

That is being corrected. New content coming over the next three months: DSM-5-TR-anchored assessment material, ASHA-aligned SLP content with AAC-forward positioning, IDEA-grounded special-education content for educators, AOTA-anchored OT content.

Where the evidence is contested. Sensory integration, social stories effectiveness. We are not papering over the disagreement. We are naming it. Practitioners and parents both deserve honest framing.

Parents are the FIRST bridge.

The diagnosis. The waitlist for services. The IEP meeting you didn't expect to have to fight in. The therapist search. The school transition. The middle-school year that broke routines you spent five years building. The transition to adulthood that nobody warned you about.

Every one of those is a bridge YOU built — sometimes alone, sometimes with us, sometimes with people who actually showed up for your family.

At Special Learning, we built tools for families who refuse to wait for the system to catch up. Journey to Independence ($199) walks you through the behavior analysis foundations a clinician would teach you, designed for the kitchen-table use case.

If you've been wondering whether there's anything for parents like you in our catalog — there is.

For parents who are looking for what the system isn't giving you:

If you're reading this, your child is somewhere on the neurodivergent spectrum and you're looking for tools the system around you hasn't handed you.

Special Learning has parent-facing training that doesn't require a clinical degree:

• Journey to Independence — Parent ABA Training and Curriculum Bundle ($199). Six modules, 25 sessions, walks you through the behavior analysis foundations a clinician would teach you.

• Journey to Independence — ABA for Parents ($129). Lower-cost entry to the same approach.

These are not part of the clinician CE library. They are made for the kitchen-table use case — for the families who actually live with the day-to-day reality.

If your child is heading into an IEP meeting this spring or a summer routine change, log in and look at what fits where you are.

'We build the materials. You build the bridge. Together we close the gap.'

Every BCBA is a bridge between research and treatment. Every RBT is a bridge between the plan and the child. Every parent is the first bridge their child ever had. Every teacher and agency owner builds bridges every day in their world.

At Special Learning, we have spent 16 years building the materials. You build the bridge. https://special-learning.com

For special-ed teachers, and the parents who work with them at IEP meetings.

The legal foundation for everything that happens at an IEP table is IDEA. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Not a clinical textbook. Not a behavior analysis code. Federal law.

When a teacher or parent advocates for goals, services, placement, or progress monitoring, the language that wins is IDEA language. FAPE, LRE, measurable annual goals, related services. These are not jargon. They are the statutory standards by which the school is held accountable.

We are publishing IDEA-anchored content for the educator side of our practitioner community over the next two weeks. If you are a special-ed teacher or parent and you want to suggest a scenario for us to ground it against, comment below.

For SLPs and parents of clients with SLP support.

ASHA's current position on AAC: people with autism may need AAC to fully meet their communication needs, even when they have functional speech. AAC is not a last resort. It is part of the toolkit from the start, available to support full communication.

If an SLP has framed AAC as something to consider only after other approaches fail, that framing is older than ASHA's current Practice Portal language. The shift is real and worth knowing about.

Quick note for the practitioner community. About a quarter of our subscribers are not BCBAs or RBTs. They are speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, special-ed teachers, and developmental professionals.

This is not an accident. Autism intervention happens across disciplines. The child you serve has a team. Therapist, teacher, parent, doctor, sometimes a behavior analyst, sometimes not. Our catalog is designed for everyone on that team.

If a topic in your discipline is missing from our content, hit reply and tell us. We are building around what practitioners are actually missing, not what we assume.
