The Sacramento Bee’s 2022 Top 25 AAPI Change Makers list includes individuals who have done exceptional work to promote equity, strengthen community ties and amplify the voices of the region. This list includes two of our very own Trojan alumni.
ANNIE V. LAM is the executive director and founder of the nonprofit APIs Mobilize and the executive director of the California API Legislative Caucus Institute, organizations with a mission to promote AAPI participation in public service and government via mentorship and programs. She is also the principal and founder of Lam Consulting group. Lam received her MPA from USC Sol Price School of Public Policy & EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership from USC Rossier School of Education.
MAHEEN AHMED became the first Muslim legislative director in the California Assembly in 2019, a position she held for Democrat Rob Bonta. She joined Attorney General Rob Bonta’s Office last year and helped to create an office charged with building relationships with historically marginalized communities. She now is the deputy director of the Office of Community Awareness, Response, and Engagement (CARE). Outside of work at the Attorney General’s Office, Ahmed works to promote equity and justice as a board member of Sacramento Area Congregations Together. Ahmed received her MPA from USC Sol Price School of Public Policy in Sacramento.

To kick off the first day of Fall Semester, we'd like to introduce you to our Graduate Policy and Administration Community (GPAC) Sacramento Chair - ARIELLE RUBIN ⭐️
Arielle Rubin (she/her) is a second year MPA student at USC Sol Price School of Public Policy in Sacramento with a desire to improve community programs through thoughtful, data-driven decision-making. In addition to taking classes at USC’s State Capital Center, Arielle is a Member Engagement Associate at CapRadio. In this role, she handles donor cultivation and gift entry for CapRadio’s partner station NSPR. Prior to moving to Sacramento, Arielle worked in various marketing and development roles at nonprofit arts organizations in the Bay Area after earning her BS Theatre Arts Management from Ithaca College. In her spare time, Arielle enjoys exploring the outdoors and eating all the cookies and brownies she can get her hands on.
