Grad Walk at Vista del Lago is truly one of the most special traditions we have, and every single year it reminds us why we do what we do. ❤️
PTSO is incredibly proud to host and support this event each year. It is hands down one of our favorite and most rewarding events because it brings together the past, present, and future in such a meaningful way.
First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to Cherie Miller for coordinating the million moving pieces it takes to make Grad Walk happen. From coordinating with the elementary schools, Folsom Middle School, Vista administration, district employees, buses, schedules, parent volunteers, and hundreds of students… this event takes nearly an entire year of planning and organization to execute successfully.
Cherie works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure every detail falls into place, finding district employees to chaperone buses, coordinating volunteers to check students in and out, organizing bus routes and strict schedules so students have time at Folsom Middle School and their former elementary schools, and making sure the entire experience runs smoothly for everyone involved. We are so lucky to have her leadership, dedication, and heart behind this beautiful tradition.
Your PTSO memberships and support are what allow us to continue funding and supporting this incredible annual event. Grad Walk is unique to Vista del Lago, and it is a tradition we hope continues for many years to come.
There is something so emotional and full circle about watching these seniors put on their caps and gowns for the first time and take one final ride on a school bus through the schools that helped shape them into who they are today.
The looks on the elementary students’ faces as the seniors parade through the halls… the excitement, the admiration, the high fives, the little gifts and sweet notes passed out… it is something you truly have to witness to understand.
And for the parents? It is one more reminder that time moves way too fast. Watching your child take one last ride through memory lane hits differently. One minute they were the tiny kindergarteners walking into those same schools nervous and excited, and the next they are young adults preparing to step into the next chapter of their lives.
One of the most touching parts of the day is seeing retired teachers come back just to greet former students one more time. It says everything about the impact our schools, staff, and community have on these kids.
Thank you to all of the parents, volunteers, staff, district employees, and everyone who helped make today so special. And thank you again, Cherie Miller, for leading such a meaningful tradition with so much care and love.
We hope our seniors enjoyed one last ride around their school memory lane. ❤️
