AI, Creativity, and the Future of 3D

The rapid rise of AI has created fear, frustration, and uncertainty across the 3D and videogame industry. Many professionals have felt that these tools arrived at the worst possible moment, amplifying an already difficult landscape full of layoffs, shrinking teams, and studios reducing creative risk. It’s understandable that AI can feel like another force working against us during a time when stability is already fragile.

But AI, at its core, is still just that — a tool. And tools don’t replace passion, vision, or the craft that artists and developers have spent years mastering. What they can do is amplify us. Give us speed. Expand what small teams or independent creators can accomplish. And maybe, for the first time in a long while, level the playing field between big studios and the individuals they let go.

If AI contributed to some of the disruption we’re seeing, perhaps it can also become part of the solution. The same technology that companies use to cut costs can be used by creators to build faster, prototype more ambitiously, and compete in ways that weren’t possible before. The “small guy” now has access to the same weapons: rapid iteration, advanced simulations, intelligent pipelines, and production tools once reserved for massive teams.
As we look toward 2026, perhaps this is the start of a shift — one where independent creators, small studios, and newly formed teams rise with the support of AI-powered workflows. Not to replace creativity, but to fuel it. Not to remove jobs, but to empower new ones. Not to diminish our value, but to give us new ways to prove it.

To everyone navigating this transition: don’t be afraid. Learn the tools. Master them. Use them to build your own opportunities, your own projects, and your own momentum. The industry may have changed but so have we — and we’re walking into this new era with strength, skill, and technology that puts us back in the game.

Here’s to creators becoming the new competition. 🚀🎮✨

The last couple of years have been extremely challenging for the 3D and videogame industry. What used to be a space full of momentum and opportunity has faced a wave of uncertainty: studio closures, massive layoffs, cancelled projects, and shrinking budgets. Many talented artists, developers, and creators suddenly found themselves without a place to keep building the worlds they love.

These disruptions haven’t just affected companies—they’ve impacted real people, families, and entire communities of creatives. The industry is still full of passion and skill, but it’s been difficult to see so many colleagues struggle to find stability.

Despite this, I remain hopeful. Industries move in cycles, and periods of contraction often lead to reinvention. New technologies, new workflows, and new platforms continue to emerge. Independent teams are rising. Real-time engines, VR/AR, and AI-enhanced pipelines are opening new doors that didn’t exist a few years ago.

As we approach 2026, I truly believe we’ll start to see a rebound: more projects green-lit, more studios hiring again, and more spaces for creativity to thrive. The talent in this field is too strong, too innovative, and too resilient to stay down for long.

To everyone affected: your value hasn’t decreased. Your skills matter. And better days for our industry are ahead. Let’s keep learning, supporting each other, and preparing for the upswing.

Here’s to a stronger, healthier 3D and game industry in 2026. 💙🎮✨
