School’s out, but great meals are still on the menu! ☀️🍎
We’re excited to offer free summer meals for children 18 and under through our Rural Summer Meals Program.
From June 16 through August 4, families who sign up will receive a weekly meal bag every Tuesday at our Sheridan distribution location, containing 14 meals (7 breakfasts and 7 lunches) for each eligible child.
Our meals are prepared by our school nutrition team using fresh ingredients, locally sourced products when available, and scratch-made recipes designed to keep kids fueled all summer long.

Last Friday we celebrated School Lunch Hero Day and the incredible people behind every meal 💚
Our teams put so much care into feeding our students every day, and while we shared a few small tokens of appreciation, they don’t come close to expressing our gratitude.

Spring break = level up week for our team.
We spent the week planning next year’s menus, getting hands-on with high-quality seafood at a training with Lodi USD, and building our team for the year ahead.
Shoutout to Lodi USD for hosting and Real Good Fish for making it possible.
It’s all part of the work behind the scenes to make school meals better every year.

Chef Adrian put two unexpected brownie recipes to the test at CCC… and the results might surprise you 👀🍫
Students were the judges in this head-to-head showdown

It was close… but the black bean brownie came out on top.
This is what it looks like to build menus with students, not just for them. Real feedback, real reactions, and a lot of curiosity along the way.
Our team has been working on a fun end-of-year sweet treat, and this taste test helped us get one step closer.

This month’s taste test was a little unexpected… and a big hit 🍊
Our amazing dietetic intern, Halima, brought kumquats to the spotlight at Twelve Bridges Middle School and Glen Edwards Middle School. These small but mighty fruits, grown in Fresno, CA, gave students the chance to try something new and share their honest feedback.
From curious first bites to strong opinions (as always 😉), Halima did an incredible job connecting with students and gathering insights that help shape what we serve.
We love creating these hands-on experiences and are so grateful to host dietetic interns who bring fresh energy and ideas to our program. Thank you, Halima, for making such an impact in just one month!

Sunrise in DC with some incredible California school food leaders. 🌅🇺🇸
This week our Food Service Director joined 800+ school food professionals, industry partners, and advocates in Washington, DC for the School Nutrition Association’s Legislative Action Conference (LAC). Together we met with lawmakers and shared the real stories from our kitchens and cafeterias, all to advocate for healthy school meals for students across the country.
The photo says it all. A group of passionate leaders from California standing in front of our nation’s capital as the sun rises, ready to speak up for students and the professionals who feed them every day and have fun while doing it.
The policy work is happening at the national level, and we can’t wait to bring that energy home to California as we continue advocating for our students and school food professionals at the CSNA Legislative Action Conference this April.

Spring menus are here 🌷
Breakfast launched 2/9 and lunch starts Monday 3/2. We’ve been busy cooking, baking, and building scratch made food, made by our team, right here in our kitchens.
New favorite on the menu. Carrot Breakfast Bread with a cream cheese glaze. Made from scratch. Baked fresh. And yes, it’s sooo good.
We’ve added lots of new items this season. Check out the new offerings and come grab a slice. Spring is officially on the menu 🍽️🥕

🥳 Today we hosted our 3rd Annual Guest Server Day, one of our favorite Plateful traditions! 🎉
Board members, district and site administrators, our amazing vendors, nonprofit partners, and even Assemblyman Gallagher joined our food service teams behind the line to serve up lunch and smiles! 👩🍳👨🍳
We also celebrated CAFF Crunch Day 🥕🍎, encouraging all students to take a crunch out of local produce. This year’s star? 🍑 Delicious pluots from Mt. Moriah Farm in Lodi, CA!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined in to celebrate local food, community, and our incredible school meal program, including our nonprofit partners who help make these hands-on experiences possible! 💚
