Will Pennsylvania legalize this year? 👀 . State Sen. Dan Laughlin of Erie County will become the first Republican in the Pennsylvania legislature to sponsor a bill that would legalize ma*****na use and possession for adults 21 years and older. . Laughlin, of Millcreek, R-49th Dist., plans to roll out the Adult Use Cannabis and Economic Recovery bill on Wednesday with state Sen. Sharif Street, of Philadelphia, D-3rd Dist. . "I view this as the most responsible approach," he said. "We've already legalized medical ma*****na and regulating adult use takes a huge bite out of the black market. It also allows people that already use this product to do it in a more responsible manner and buy it from a safe source with accurate labeling." . State Sen. The bill would also allow licensed medical ma*****na patients to grow up to five plants that are more than five inches tall in their home without a cultivation center license, as long as any amount of ma*****na produced that is in excess of 30 grams remains secured on the property on which it was grown. We can’t talk about cannabis legalization without emphasizing criminal justice reform. We’re excited to have do a live training to help people and impacted families navigate the criminal legal system. . Attorneys and trainers from the Defender Association will lead an interactive workshop on navigating the current crisis in the criminal justice system. Now more than ever with uncertain court openings, virtual hearings, and shifting policies and procedures, our communities need to be informed and engaged in the system to uphold a fair process and just outcomes for all. In this training, participants will learn ongoing practices, current challenges, and the power that individuals and groups have within the system. .
