🌲☀️ Our students have been out exploring!

We loved seeing how many students spent their summer discovering new places and enjoying time in nature. 💙 From the Grand Canyon to open fields and sparkling water, their adventures remind us just how much there is to experience beyond our front doors. 🏞️🌊🌳

Time outside gives us a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, follow our curiosity, and appreciate the world around us.

Thank you to everyone who shared a glimpse of their summer adventures. We love seeing where curiosity takes our students!

💬 What’s your family’s favorite way to spend time outside?

📸✨ Happy World Photography Day!

Today, we’re celebrating the creativity of our Virtual Academy Photography students and the unique ways they see the world.

Through photography, students learn to notice the details, explore new perspectives, express their creativity, and share the world as they see it. 📷💙

☀️ Summer started with Executive Director Jenell Sherman and Associate Executive Director Shannon Breckenridge heading out of the office…

Now they’re back at their desks and ready to kick off a brand-new school year! 💻✨

Welcome back, families! 🎒💙 As we celebrate the first day of school, we’re also stepping into our new theme:
Go Out. Make a Difference.

We can’t wait to see our students explore, try new things, follow their passions, and make an impact wherever they go.

Let’s make it a great year!

🎬 It’s the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, and our first Monday Minute of the new school year!

So obviously… let’s dance. 💃🕺

You’ve seen me do the Napoleon Dynamite dance - now it's your turn.

📹 Film your dance and send it to [email protected] so we can see just how many Sequoia students, families, and staff we can get dancing into the new school year!

Because if Napoleon Dynamite taught us anything, it’s that sometimes you just have to “go out” and dance. 😉

Let’s make this first day dynamite. 💥

🎉 Check out the hands-on learning these Feather River students got up to this summer!

These 3 students helped make the Colfax 3rd of July celebration possible for an estimated 15,000 attendees.✨

Working alongside event organizers, they spent hours helping with setup, vendor support, the Kids Zone, guest assistance, traffic direction, and cleanup, not just during the event, but over the following TWO MORNINGS as well.

At just 14, 11, and 8 years old, they're gaining firsthand experience in event management, community service, collaboration, and even local government.

This is what learning beyond the classroom looks like: building confidence, serving others, and developing skills that will last a lifetime.

Way to go! We're so proud of these students for stepping up and working hard to make a difference in their community. 💙

💬 What's one real-world skill your student has learned outside of a traditional classroom? Share their story with us!

🎒✨ The countdown is almost over...

School starts Monday, August 17! 🍎📚

A new year means new goals, new friendships, new adventures, and countless opportunities to Go Out. Make a Difference. 💙

Whether you're preparing your learning space, unpacking supplies, or soaking up the last few days of summer, we can't wait to welcome our students and families back for an incredible school year!

💬 Tell us: What are you or your student looking forward to most this school year?

"Homeschoolers are so hard to please." 🤨

Our homeschoolers pleased:

Turns out it doesn’t take much—just a little curiosity, creativity, and room to explore.

Sometimes the best homeschool moments aren’t carefully planned. They happen when students have the freedom to follow their curiosity and enjoy the adventure. ✨

👇 What simple adventure has been a big hit with your homeschooler?

✏️ What's one homeschool item you couldn't live without? 📚

Is it your planner, Ticonderoga pencils, personal whiteboards, library card, morning coffee, or something else entirely?

We all have that one item that makes homeschool life a little easier. Share your must-have in the comments, you might just help another homeschool family discover their new favorite resource! 👇

🍎

As a new homeschool year approaches, here’s a reminder:
“Homeschool isn’t about recreating school at home. It’s about creating learning that fits your family.”

Your homeschool does not need to look like anyone else’s. Personalized learning gives you the flexibility to choose the curriculum, schedule, and experiences that best support your child’s growth.

As you prepare for the year ahead, give yourself permission to start simply, make adjustments, and discover what works for your family. No two homeschool journeys look the same—and that’s something to celebrate! 🎉
