find out farms is a scrappy little project that is determined to make a positive change in the world around us. Growing food, food access, food sovereignty, and sharing food are foundational to what we do. We wake up in the morning in order to care for our plants and animals. We tend to them right before bed. Each month we spend time harvesting fruit from trees in the local area so that we can sha

re the abundance with our community in South Oak Park, Sacramento. We care about the environment. Small scale regenerative agriculture is our goal. Creating an environment in which healthy plants and animals can thrive while creating an abundance of food for the community is paramount. We care deeply about pollinators and biodiversity. We believe that learning is one of the most intrinsically rewarding activities that one can partake in. Observation, curiosity, and an appreciation for the endless limits of information shape us deeply. Our goal is to make information about growing food accessible to anyone in our community that is interested in learning more and to help anyone interested in growing food to achieve their goals. Thank you for being curious! Please don’t be shy about asking us any questions that you might have!

Running a small business can be tricky. Running one that works with living things can be extra challenging!
Big nurseries toss tons of plants in the dumpster and write it off as "spoilage". We simply can't stomach the idea of that. The whole reason we sell native plants is because we want to help the environment! And we love the plants! They're not trash! But we have too many to tend to over the Summer.
Every year we learn how to be better at what we do. We also take chances and risks. Is it better to have too many plants than too few? Will our customers want more locally native species this season? We take the risks and... find out.
Well, this Saturday we are trying to keep plants from going to waste and hoping that folks will swoop up a few more native species to tuck into the ground before Summer hits us hard.

9am to 1pm only. Please no early birds.

Spend $40 now and get $50 worth of plants this Fall.

It's Spring and there are beautiful flowers to fall in love with! And you want them in your garden.
And pretty much any plant that is in bloom right now will benefit from being planted in the Fall.

So take notes on what new species you love, set a calendar reminder for Fall, and get yourself a gift card that will reward your responsible choice!

It's almost Spring in the Northern Hemisphere!

Many of us associate Spring as the time to garden.
And it is! For tomatoes, peppers, and your other Summer favorites.

But just like you don't want to plant a tomato in December, you don't want to plant a Mananita in July. Most California native plants thrive best when they are planted while the soil is cool and moist. Hopefully with another rain storm or two! 🤞
So, we are deeply discounting a wide selection of our nursery inventory this Saturday.

To find out what will be on sale you have to come in person!

We will remain open every Saturday until the end of May, but don't wait until then! Get your native plants in the ground now, before the soil is warm.

9am to 1pm.
Please no early birds or late birds!

Can you break up with your lawn and love grass? Yes!!
Non-native turf grasses present all sorts of ecological challenges, but California native grasses are so important!
We have noticed that when folks get into gardening with native plants, they shy away from any grasses, but our native species provide food and habitat to so much wildlife. You can ditch your lawn and still enjoy grass!
Check out to learn more about the important work they are doing on the restoration of California grasslands.
And if you want some Stipa pulchra seeds, come by! We have free seeds as well as several species of native grasses at the nursery.
