It’s always a joy when Forward Focus coaches can get together in person! Last week at the California International Marathon, both Coach Katie and Coach Anne-Marie qualified for the 2028 Olympic Marathon Trials running 2:35 and 2:29 respectively!

Mari ran the Philadelphia Marathon this past weekend in 4:13, a two minute personal best! I love to see those mid/race smiles! 😀Mari was incredibly consistent with her training this fall and this PR was well deserved. Congratulations!!

This morning, Chris and his pup Bailey raced together in a dog-friendly 5k! Bailey went out hard on the early downhill hoping to bank time, but paid for it slightly coming back up. She still finished strong, and most importantly, had an absolutely blast. Chris said, “These are my favorite races because I get to share the sport I love with her and see her love it too.” 🐶

4:20!! Helen ran 45 minutes faster at the NYC Marathon this past weekend then she did when she raced it 3 years ago. Helen said, “I told my coach I didn’t think I was in PR shape given my rocky training cycle. I’ve had some ankle injuries during this build, so I was happy to be getting to the start line healthy. All I wanted to do was run this race smart. And I did! I ‘even split’ this race, which I am amazed of since the second half of the course is harder than the first.”
At Forward Focus, we spend a lot of time helping athletes learn to pace and run evenly during long races. It was so cool to see Helen execute just that on such a hilly and challenging course. Congratulations Helen!

Toby!! She absolutely crushed the NYC Marathon this morning. A few weeks ago, she ran a personal best of 4:00 at the flat & speedy Baystate Marathon. She came back this morning to run 4:02 on one of the toughest marathon courses. What a fall marathon season! That medal is well-deserved 🏅

Peter ran the Marine Corps Marathon this weekend and said the best part was running side-by-side with his daughter the whole way! This was their first marathon together and hopefully more to come!

Big congratulations to Alex for finishing first full marathon at the Baystate Marathon last weekend. When it got tough at the end, Alex was able to keep his thoughts positive. He took strength from cheers at a water station that was run by his former high school and from good friends near the finish. Cheering on runners really can make a difference. Congratulations Alex! A first marathon is such a special experience and you put a lot of work into this.

Guess what?! At the Chicago Marathon this weekend, Jen broke 5 hours for the first time clocking 4:59:24! Jen worked really hard this training cycle and committed to following to training plan. Congratulations Jen on the big PR!

🔔PR Bell!🔔 Eliza cruised to a personal best time and 3rd in her age group at the Blues Cruise 50k trail race last weekend. Eliza has run this race a few times and her experience paid off. She navigated very warm conditions expertly, hydrating early & often and using ice bandanas. A 50k is a long way to go, especially on the trail, and Eliza ran strong to the finish. Congratulations!
