What does a coach do? The good, the bad and the honest.

πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. It's also scary. Lately, it consumes me. I often think of my mother, my sister, my brother, and even my father. I find no real relief in any of the circumstances that killed them. The devil is real. I miss each of them.
π
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. Unfortunately, there's no death without regret. I know I could have been a better sister and daughter.
π
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. It's also weird. It comes and goes and is likely different than your own pain.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. Recently I've been obsessed with the New York Yankees. I mean, have you seen Aaron Judge?
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. For Melissa, I have a Yankee memorial tattoo on my neck that hurt like sin on a rampage. Fortunately, she is worthy of all the pain.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. I realize baseball is a worthy legacy. It's wholesome right? Whether The Yankees or some Bay Area team, there are worse things to pass along.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. I easily wear wigs. Maybe I'm not grounded in a certain identify? That's good and bad; you might not get to know me.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. Back to the Yankees. I was a kid enthralled by free hot dogs in a box suite at Yankees Stadium. I loved being there. It was family.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. I have tattoos for each of my family who died. Except my dad, I'm not there yet.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. It makes me share too much.
β€οΈ
πΎπ£πππ ππ€ ππ£ππ«πͺ. I can take a wig off, but I still have to live with my hair underneath.

I don't know anyone who doesn't have something to heal.
-
Healing is the foundation of change. Whether it's trauma, abuse, abandonment or self-loathing, if it ain't healed, it's bleeding.
I'm not responsible for the terrible things that happened to me and around me. But I am responsible for my current behaviors and for my own healing...

Our need to change never changes.

Cambodia 2024
-
For a few years I had the chance to work with young women who had experienced sexual harm, everything from trafficking to systematic sexual abuse. We did yoga, we exercised, we walked, we talked and sometimes cried. During that same time I also began to study how trauma and its related shame affects our brains, bodies and behaviors. It was all game changing. My life became different and I'm grateful to still call some of the women friends.
β€οΈ
90% of the young women I worked with had been told either in words or actions that they were literally not worth more than what their bodies could financially provide. Specifically, their sexuality.
β€οΈ
They were also led to believe that whatever bad stuff happened to them along the way was either of no consequence, or their fault anyway. That's why I rebuke the notion that people choose to be trafficked, or choose "to stay", or choose to be abused. How does a young woman break those chains on her own?
β€οΈ
Freedom is possible, I will never discount that notion, but it's way more difficult and expensive than most people will ever know.
β€οΈ
God was the only reason I got to be in rooms with those young women. He will be why I ever get to be in sacred rooms. I'm not an expert, a licensed therapist or an academic, but I sure could relate to the young women. And they knew it. My secret sauce (then and now) is equal parts my testimony and my YES. I'm also wise enough to know that prayer is everything because I'm certainly not the answer.
β€οΈ
Going to Cambodia allows me to lend my YES to AIM's freedom work. It also blesses me to support my friends who are doing the work there. The trip is so worthy of the time and the money I raise.
β€οΈ
Check out "Don't Look Away" by Don Brewster. Don and his wife Bridget are AIM's founders. The book is incredible.

Birthday Fundraiser!
Cambodia π°π 2024
β€οΈ
My Birthday is this Wednesdayπ΅πΌ! I don't typically celebrate my birthday, but this year I actually have a specific ask...
β€οΈ
I'm going to Cambodia on September 9th. It's my 4th trip to support Agape International Missions (AIM). AIM's overarching goal is to end human trafficking one life at a time. It's a freedom call too loud for me to ignore.
β€οΈ
My birthday ask is that you would financially partner with me to support AIM's cause. AIM is an incredible organization with over a
www.aimfree.org. I'm proud to serve with them.
β€οΈ
Yoga and outreach are my things...
On last yearβs trip to Cambodia I got to teach yoga to a room full of young (women) disciples. It was such a thrill. I still recall exactly how it felt. I was part of an outreach/food distribution team. That really felt like home, but I didnβt have to coordinate all the details (even though I gladly would if they asked).
β€οΈ
There's no donation too big or too small. Seriously, all amounts matter and it's tax deductible.
