Please join MAAD Skillz in proudly recognizing and honoring Jayden A. of Excuseless baseball (Las Vegas, Nv) with our “I Am MAAD” award for demonstrating the exceptional qualities of resilience, growth, and mental toughness.
Coach G.O. of Excuseless Athletics Baseball Club had this to say of Jayden in recommending him for the award:
"Over the last years, Jayden has been battling a lot of off the field nagging injuries that have been fully out of his control. One thing for certain Jayden has not one time complained about what he’s going through. He’s actually been mad at times when he’s had to sit out and not be able to help his teammates. Jayden has shown that he is the poster boy of a team player where he’s always thinking about how he can help his team, he just wants to be there for his teammates by any means. Again, a kid that has yet to complain about what he’s going through or let it stop him from trying to be the complete selfless teammate."
Our "I AM MAAD" award aims to celebrate those who embody the following characteristics:
• Resilience
• Growth
• Mental Toughness
• Commitment to Improving
• Perseverance
• Positive Attitude
• Improved Mental Skills
• Willingness to Accept Challenges
• Leadership
• Grit
• Overcoming Obstacles
• Achieving Goals
We believe it is crucial to acknowledge and encourage these qualities, as they are essential for personal and professional success of our young student athletes on and off the field. By recognizing student athletes monthly, we hope to inspire others to strive for similar excellence.

Quality of relationships are important in every aspect of life.
What are you doing as a coach or player to build quality relationships? What are you showing on a daily basis that would instill trust?
Coaches trust is needed for buy in and player development. Are you investing in your athlete or your status? They can tell.
Players as you move up levels in sports trust will become more of a deciding factor of playing time. If I can't trust you to get to class, turn in assignments, watch film, hit every rep, or touch the line, how can I trust you in the game?

Tag the coaches or mentors who have had a major impact on you. Celebrate those relationships.
Forever grateful to those that have contributed to my journey and those who will.

Parents, players, coaches...
Outcome goals are cool but your process and performance goals hold more value. I'm not a participation trophy guy, however, participation should foster intrinsic rewards like confidence, improved self esteem, belief in self and ability to improve, and create a desire to challenge oneself.
What mindset are you instilling in your student athlete? How are you helping them navigate hurdles? Is it D1 or bust?

No matter what your parenting or coaching style you must work on building the relationship. They must know you are invested in them and sometimes that means understanding what that looks or feels like for that individual. If you can't model what you want you probably won't get it.

When your desire to succeed becomes primarily fueled by the need to prove haters wrong, your success will be fleeting and feel hollow. Stay locked in on your "WHY". Your internal motivation for what you do.
If you set out in life only to prove haters wrong you will never find peace. Your motivation comes from a negative place. Let hate be fuel to fire, not the base. Just think, what if there where no haters, what would be your motivation then?
