This summer, we convened our 2026 McLeod Society Fellowship fellows in New Orleans to connect, learn, and commit. Over three days, our fellows built meaningful relationships, engaged in powerful learning experiences, and networked with other bold leaders. They left equipped to lead with renewed purpose and returned home committed to lasting impact. As the new school year begins, this powerful cohort is rooted in shared experiences, innovative strategies, and personal commitments to ensuring all children have access to quality education.

For Black, Latino, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and Native American charter grads, the number tells the story: $55,000 more a year compared to peers from the same backgrounds who didn't attend a charter school.

Debbie Veney of Agency Act dug into this in a new 5,000-person study and the gap held up across the board. As she puts it: "that's a whole 'nother job."

Summer months offer time to rest and recharge, but also bring big questions about the next school year. When it comes to resources and accommodations, many families are unsure of what is available, which can make navigating school for their children that much more difficult.

At PEACE Academy Charter, they believe that every scholar deserves access to learning opportunities that meet their unique needs and support their academic, social, and emotional growth. One of the most common questions families ask is: What is the difference between an IEP and an EIP? While both are designed to provide academic support, they serve different purposes and are developed through different processes.
