Saturday was our third camp compassion day, and our principle was; “We believe that we should accept one another and keep on learning together.” We did a lot of playing to hone in on this principle, below is a little bit of what we did!
💛 We made beaded bracelets, watching the patters our peers created and learning how we can add to our own!
💛 When we made cards to label our gifts for others, some of us knew how to write and others didn’t. We accepted these differences in ability and our older peers helped our younger ones.
💛 We had a playdough hair competition! But we wanted to find a way to make this competitive, but also inclusive to the different types of creativity that our peers have. We brainstormed together how to make this possible. We decided that we would make 4 different classifications for a win, for each of the 4 contestants. They would be: most creative, longest hair, best application of beads, and best hair!
💛 While building with magna-tiles we had to work hard to communicate with peers in the ways that they understood. This took a lot of accepting friends for the differences in their communication styles and learning how to do this lays a foundation for our future abilities as communicators!
💛 One of our littlest friends realized you could make a “1” with one of our manipulatives! Her and Mr Kevin worked together to create more and more numbers! It’s so amazing to see all the things we can learn from each other!
💛 We did the “I am a rainbow” activity sheet, where we got the opportunity to compare the diverse rainbows that each of our answers created!
💛 When it was time for clean up we all worked together to make it happen! We noticed yet again the diversity within our group that come from our differences in focus, age, attention to detail, and more. These differences helped us work through which tasks were fair, and how to best contribute.
