Hay season is in full swing! Now is time to start submitting your Cherokee County grown hay samples for a free analysis. A square bale or large trash bag full of hay is required for submission.

The Grand Champion and Reserve Champion hay along with the blue-ribbon hay will be auctioned during our Annual Hay Show & Sale to be held October 27th. All proceeds of this event will go to benefit the youth of Cherokee County. The funds raised from the benefit auction will be used to support the scholarship program. To date $304,000 has been awarded to the youth of Cherokee County through the funds raised at the Cherokee County Hay Show and Sale.

Deadline to submit samples is Monday, September 14th.

A free New World screwworm inspector training is now available to all Texans through AgriLife Learn.

The course covers New World screwworm biology, inspection protocols, reporting and more, and is open to anyone who wants to better understand how to protect their animals. Those who qualify may apply to become a certified New World screwworm inspector through the Texas Animal Health Commission.
